Twitch coming to KFOG.

Twitch of former duo KRAMER AND TWITCH is coming in for mornings at KFOG. (AKA ANTHONY LONGO)

He joins from LEXINGTON, KY.

Big jump. (For both employer and employee.)

Is a Twitch or a Tweak coming to KFOG?

sounds like both -- you don't hire a shock jock to play Bonnie Raitt. It's seeming like "KFOG A-to-Z" is the last gasp of the old playlist -- a gift, if you will, to the loyal listeners who soon will be ex-listeners.

In the article it states "'Working at the World Famous KFOG has been a dream of mine since I first got into radio,' he said". but according to Kramer (at kramersforum.com... of Kramer & Twitch), they'd never heard of KFOG. Kramer also mentions it's one of the first time he's seen Tony Longo referred to as his real name.

Not to abuse Shakespeare, but he asked;"What's in a name?"

Possibly nothing, but the name "Twitch" conjurs visions of a wild and crazy morning guy doing prank calls, talking about sex from a juvenile perspective, and generally pushing the envelope of good taste. Not your Dave Morey type, in other words.

From their website:
A message from Dennis for Fogheads:
One of the most difficult things in life is dealing with change. We get into our comfortable patterns. Challenging those patterns and finding new ways of doing things is scary, but it can be invigorating and even exciting.
After much consideration, I have made the very difficult decision that it’s time to introduce a brand new morning show on KFOG. It’s a show we’re calling KFOG In The Morning, and it will debut right after Memorial Day.
KFOG in the Morning will feature a fresh cast of characters that will immediately put you in a great mood, starting your day with information that’s relevant to you and, of course playing great music to give a positive start to your day. We hope that you will enjoy the new KFOG In The Morning with Tony, Greg and Melanie.
Unfortunately, this will mean that Webster and Irish Greg are leaving the station. We sincerely appreciate their years of service at KFOG and the sacrifices in they have made to get up early every morning to entertain Fogheads. They have been and will remain friends of everyone here.
Thank you for your support of KFOG and we sincerely hope you will find KFOG In The Morning with Tony, Greg and Melanie an enlightening and inspiring experience.
Dennis Constantine
KFOG Program Director

At least they have the courtesy to say something nice about the departing morning crew. Typically in radio, the replaced are persona non grata.

I heard a promo with him on, he didn't sound too vulgar

indeed, he is apparently re-inventing himself for the Bay Area. And "KFOG A-to-Z" ended and nothing changed, musically speaking, on the station. Status quo. Still, seems odd to bring a guy halfway across the country to do the opoosite of what he's been doing for the last dozen-plus years.

still seems odd that kfog would hire a shock jock--reinvented or not. complete opposite direction of what the station spent decades fostering. i remember when twitch famously spread a hoax that britney spears died in a car crash. i remember when kramer & twitch were at ksjo and told drivers to "door" motorcycle riders and cyclists. i believe both stunts got him fired.

new direction for the station all right...who are targeting?

From what I heard this morning, they're trying to sound like Alice-meets-Live 105. But Mr Twitch was quite subdued.

i say give it time....once a shock jock always a shock jock.

only a matter of time before Twitch pulls one of his tasteless stunts a la the Straight Pride Parade he and Kramer organized back in Detroit

This is San Francisco, and he is going to be on KFOG. To presume that he will do something vulgar and stupid - such as a Straight Parade - is assuming that he has no impulse control. From what I can tell from the KFOG press releases, he's not even going to be "Twitch," but either "Tony" or "Greg."

The "Morning Zoo" - "Doghouse" style of morning drive radio will not work on KFOG, unless they are trolling for a totally different audience, in which case, they would be changing the music, too.

Like it or not, the traditional popularity of KFOG depends on a lot of baby-boomers who remember "underground" and "album-rock" radio stations like KSAN and KMPX. I don't get the impression that they are abandoning that audience all together.

He's "Tony" -- Greg is Greg Gory. They may not be abandoning their longtime/loyal audience but they're sure pissing them off -- see the KFOG Radio Facebook page.

Heard the new lineup yesterday...granted it was their first week together, but so far it's just a LOT of chatter about absolutely nothing. When you start on the air mornings in SF, you've gotta have your "stuff" together on day one. I don't think this "adult zoo" approach will last long on KFOG.

Also check out the KFOG yelp page for a lot of negative comments, though you need to make sure you sort by date, otherwise Yelp will start with the last 5 star review.  A yelp salesperson has apparently visited 55 Hawthorne.

I only listened briefly this week, once or twice.  Tony reminds me a little of Woody from the Live 105 morning show several years ago.  That's not a good thing.

Twitch, aka Tony, is still tweeting from his @twitchshow account, which seems a little strange.  Is that a picture of him with Greg Gory and Melanie posted on May 25?
