TWO ANNIVERSARIES OF NOTE

Fifty years ago today, the NBC Radio Network signed on the air with MONITOR. Many regard Monitor as the forerunner of talk radio. What it did for me as a young kid growing up in NEPA was expose me to a sophisticated world of drama, theatre, culture and sports. I might not have known which opera was playing at the Met but I was aware that there was a Met. My favorites were Henry Morgan and Gene Rayburn.
Twenty Five years ago, Cable News Network (CNN) signed on and changed the way we looked at news forever. And since this is a radio board, CNN begat CNN Radio news. (Just wanted to keep it on topic).

I loved Monitor, especially Bill Cullen.
