HUH? The Emerald Coast has recovered very well from Ivan. I lived there after Ivan and through Hurricane Dennis and Ft Walton/Destin recovered well. What tourist traps are there that people can no longer go too?

Funny note by the way about 1120. When I was there in early 2005 they were FOX 1120 (not sure of they still are?). They didnt have money for billboards, etc so they made up political type yard signs and put them up all along the main roads off of Hwy 98. While it looked kinda cheap, it got the word out to locals.

He's in Navarre, the Holiday Inn and Cowboy's were demolished after Ivan and haven't been rebuilt. It's possible tourist traffic is down in Navarre, but my checkbook tells me Destin and Pensacola have recovered.

Maybe rob should join the Navarre Chamber of Commerce and save the place. It used to be pretty cool until
a bunch of it escaped into the ocean during a little hurricane named Opal.

BH, you getting any hurricanes up your way???

Hurricanes in Michigan? Nope.
That's why I left Florida. I went through those four that came through or around Tampa in 2004 (?), then moved to the Panhandle right after Ivan hit, then got hit by Dennis there and said no more. It may get a little cold here in the winter but at least my house won't blow away. :)

I heard that after getting run off over at Cat Country, Artie the Hack went over to those two to peddle some more baseless crap.

Then the Lawyer finally realized that using his DUI ad budget to support two stations was hurting one business and not helping the other. So he put them up for sale.

Then Artie the Hack said Hey, How bout I LMA these, because it's cool working for a moron if you're the moron.

Then he got into a pissing contest with Ol Max Howell, who did the Ol' Max Howell thing to do - take his ball and go home and find some other fool to peddle his wares upon. My guess is that Artie the Hack found it hard to sell his 5 dollar commercials when the guy who was the centerpiece of their second-rate programming was out putting people on that station, and some other 1kw stations in places like Prattville and outside every half-city in the three state areas for 2 bucks.

Well, it's either get cut into the deal with Ol' Max Howell so you can get your 75 cents everytime they run a commercial that hasn't had a copy change in 11 months (Hey, it's ALMOST timely again!) or cut his ability to counter sell you on your own radio station by removing him from the radio station.

So now, the BIGGG winner in this?

The Lawyer getting his LMA Payment? Well, no, since Artie can't clear a check.

Artie? nope. He's got a station with nothing he can sell.

Max? nope, he's got no where to sell.

The Ticket? Nope, that's like saying Hillary benefitted from Al Sharpton dropping out of the presidential race.

If a tree poops in the forrest, and no one's there to smell it, who wants to buy the turd on EBAY?

My God, even I don't have a clue what and where that post came from...Rob, I know you're a day or two away from Navarre
all the way down to Destin (according to Mapquest), but get down there and get some answers to this...where in the hell
does The Ticket enter into this. Oh Hale cannot have his fingers in those two AM's pies, can he??? Retract, he can. Is that
7-12P K-Rock Jock still working there that used to post here??? Maybe he can explain this. Shoot me now, it is Destin...

Tibbs, my guess is that the Ticket reference relates to WDSP being "competition" to WTKE with sports content (Max Howell) and not relating to Hale. Observing The Ticket for nearly 10 years has convinced me that their problems have nothing to do with competition, but instead are self-inflicted.

As you & I (and others) have discussed, 98.1 remains the Sleeping Giant of the Emerald Coast. But, man, it's been a long nap, hasn't it?

The two little "for sale" AM sticks? Someone should unplug 'em & send the liceneses back to the FCC, ASAP. Their very existence represents the definition of the term "Money Pit."

RNR --- I forgot the AM ticket. You're spot on with the AM comments. Makes me ill to even read about people thinking
about those. Good to see ya posting!!!

I would only own an AM for fun. There was some cat in AL who had an AM that he programmed with old style jock-driven personality radio. We listened to it anytime we were driving through the area and I was so impressed since it met my long-time dream (in a way) of providing a forum for my old radio friends and maybe some new ones to get air time for fun or between gigs.
Apparantly that was all for the purpose of getting the signal some content until it could be sold...
Think I'll start a new thread - Your Dream Station ;D

Some people also like cutting off their body parts for fun. That would actually be a lot less painful and more
rewarding than trying to have fun with an AM in Destin. $215,000 down and $20,000 in losses for life. Sounds
like a good deal to me. Maybe for kicks, he charged it to his credit card with 25% interest.
