Two FOX Stations are showing different Baseball Games

I receive two FOX affiliates where I live and they are both showing different Games. Does every FOX station get to choose what game they want to air?

Part of it is up to the MLB. Certain blackout restrictions apply. Some of the decision-making is made by Fox. They have a primary and secondary game for blackouts and conflicts. The primary game gets the #1 broadcast team. Decisions are made considering National League towns vs. American League towns. They want to maximize their ratings in each town. I imagine some markets can make recommendations for the game each week. But I don't think it's as simple as an affiliate can carry either game.

There's no blackout restrictions on the Fox MLB games. Fox has exclusivity on the Saturday timeslot, there is no other TV coverage of the Fox Saturday games in the local markets, they get the game on Fox.

Boston FOX station showed the Toronto game today
Providence FOX station showed the Mets game.

I was surprised to see them airing different games. I watched the Mets.

Gee...who was Toronto playing?

Bostonians would rather watch a National League game than one where the Yankees are winning.

Toronto got spanked by the Yankees on Saturday by a score of 11-3 - all eleven runs coming in the third inning.

What's the matter, Sky? You folks in New England can't say the "Y" word? ;D

he wrote down that a Fox station carried "the Toronto game" as if they actually had an affiliate there or something... ::)

Has anyone developed a mapping program (similar to ones created during the NFL season--and I've also seen them during CBS March Madness coverage) to show which Fox affiliates/areas of the country receive which Fox Saturday baseball game?

There had been one (on the 506 site) earlier in the season, but it's been irregular
to non-existent more recently.

Which has brought the ire of three groups. 1) the regional FOX cable channels which see their afternoon games bumped to early evening, or aired not at all due to the insipid blackout 2) MLB TV, when FOX moved their afternoon game to night last week, found that in no way was MLB going to not air a Saturday night game. 3) NASCAR, which didn't want their partner network, FOX airing a major league game opposite their saturday night racing.

As I mentioned, I get two FOX affiliates. Boston and Providence. Saturday They were both airing different games. I could possibly be mistaken regarding teams on FOX 25. However I am definitely not mistaken when I tell you that each FOX affiliate was airing a different Baseball game. I switched back and forth a couple of times to make sure. Maybe someone can verify what teams were playing on each affiliate.

Because, like the World Champion Yankees, the Tampa Rays are also in a close divisional race with the Red Sox. That may have been more interesting for their fans short term to show that game (we got the Mets vs Nationals game in Hartford/New Haven, as you might expect).

I wouldn't think that FOX would show Yankees and Mets at the same time, unless they were playing each other. What would Fox 5 in NYC show?
