Two great stations here and there

Rented a car to drive to the shore with the wife for a couple days away for our anniversary. The minivan gets bad gas mileage and since the kids were with a babysitter, no need to waste the gas driving a big vehicle. Thought I'd die without satellite radio. The rental didn't have it. I'd pretty much given up on Philadelphia radio for the past few years. But now, I even forgot my CD's and I-pod, so I was forced to listen to Philadelphia radio, or silence. I gotta say I honestly didn't realize Philly and the shore each had two great stations. I knew they were on-the-air, but I didn't realize how good they were. But I gotta say, WOGL is a quality station and CBS deserves props. No other corporate station around sounds that good. No wonder they do so well in the PPM's. Then over on the AM, my gosh are you Philly folks lucky to have WHAT 1340 AM. I didn't realize the station sounded so good since updating from the Martini format. You Philly folks have quite a little gem on WHAT AM. Then down at the shore, Equity deserves all the props for WMID 1340 AM (love that short spacing between the two 1340's. Halfway down the AC Expressway, WHAT cuts out and WMID suddenly takes over LOL) and also with Easy 93.1. I'm not affiliated with any of the four aforementioned stations in any way. I'm just a radio guy who pretty much gave up on radio awhile ago, but was forced to listen to it in a rental car and was pleasantly surprised at 98.1, both 1340s, and 93.1. Good job CBS, Marconi, and Equity.

Oh I should mention before heading off for the night that I'm not 80 years old by giving those aforementioned stations props. How's 33? So much for what you guys were thinking! ;D

Very unusual 33 year old I'd say..at least your music taste. But it prove you can't put everyone in a box.

Fortunately WHAT streams because the AM signal is pretty crappy in most places.

Recently, CBS FM knocked WLTW out of the #1 spot 12 plus for the first time in like 15 years.

It'll be interesting to see if OGL does the same to B 101.

If you're going to live in the 50s, then being on AM ala WMID isn't a bad place to be. You serve a small niche and everyone understand you won't be a serious player. But with a good sales staff in place, you can still eek out a living.

How much did you spend to rent a car to save money on gas?

I live in the Poconos near a place with junker, high-mileage rent-a-cars (but still mechanically sound) for 20 bucks a day. We only went away for two days. 40 dollars. My V8 engine at home gets 13 miles a gallon. The junker car got about 35. I actually came out ahead. Not counting no wear and tear on my own vehicle. So there. :p And to keep this radio-related, I was lucky the junker car I got had a good AM and FM radio. My vehicle at home's radio is junk with bad sensitivity. ;D

Thanks. I didn't realize it had happened in the last year.

#1 or #2 12 plus. Doesn't really matter because it's all about the demos......

Let's see if they do it again.

And let's see if CBS-FM does it consecutive months to LTW.
