Two Guys Names Chris - Syndicated

Article from AllAccess:

WRQR Adds Two Guys Named Chris For January - NEXTMEDIA Rock WRQR/WILMINGTON will add the newly syndicated morning show "TWO GUYS NAMED CHRIS" beginning January 2007. The show is currently heard weekdays from 5a-Noon on DICK BROADCASTING Classic Rock WKRR (Rock 92)/GREENSBORO.

NEXTMEDIA Reg. VP/CAROLINA's BARRY BROWN added, "We are dedicated to giving our listener's the best programming in Wilmington, and are very excited about our partnership with DICK BROADCASTING, and TWO GUYS NAMED CHRIS."

There goes their "local" edge. I'm sure there will still be local content, but it will never be quite the same. That's just been what I've observed with syndication.

My thoughts exactly. Good for them, they are good talented guys, but the Traid just lost something special.

DBC better hope they have better luck w/ 2GNC in syndication than the guy down the hall from them had back in the 90's. That did NOT go well.

I remember when Big Paul and Eloise were in Charlotte and Louisville. What a juggling act to try and keep the TQR product local. It was always fun to watch Paul pull that off. It is doable with two or three stations, but any more than that will destroy any local content.

Oh yeah! I remember when Murphy syndicated. What a fiasco that was! I like the two Chris guys, but I don't think this will last long. Sorry, but it might be for the best.

Really depends on the ultimate goal of syndication. If they just do a couple of stations, there are still opportunities for being local to the Triad. Big Paul did it on WTQR - drove him nuts, but he did it.

Here's my opinion: if they're really committed to these guys, they should do a straight talk format and let The Buzzard play all the classic rock they want. I don't know whether you can move Bob and Tom to middays on tape (I've heard Rush Limbaugh is done later on some stations, though I think that's just to give people more chances to hear him). Whatever you can do with such a format (and I haven't really done the research but I hear Opie and Anthony are also available for such a format) you HAVE to have Phil Hendrie. I used to love his crazy characters. He used to be on what's now 95.7 The Ride in Charlotte, although WHPE pretty much blocks that station out for me now. I didn't even know he was all those people! I thought he just had some insane listeners.

Boy...that FM Talk is tearin it up on 101.1. Chris & Chris are definately steering that Rock 92 ship, the ratings tumble after mornings/middays...whatever you call 6-noon....but going all talk is a lil extreme.

I must admit I made the same comment on a board about six months ago - which is how I learned Phil had hung it up. Too bad, that was one funny show!

??? I just cant believe that these idiots are syndicated and the greatest morning show (BOB AND THE SHOWGRAM) still arent in the Greensboro Market. Could someone please explain the logic to me.??

THANKS

Where you gonna put Bob & the Showgram???? G-105 is a CC station. CC has the rythmic stuff on their only current music station. CC wouldn't wanna help out Simon or whatever it's gonna be next on 98.7. There's simply no place for it.

But it ISSSS kinda interesting that Rock 92 is getting rid of their afternoon host just as the morning show gets syndicated. Someone already waiting for PM Drive??? Or will it end up being "All 2 Guys, all the time"??!!!???

Well I know of two CC stations that I would love to see the morning shows dumped and replaced. 99.5 & 100.3. Both are tired and have their best years behind them. Plus it would be great to see Murphy on his keister after Bob and the crew destroy them in the ratings.

I'm pretty sure PM drive is already spoken for at this point; there is always a change in the weather at DBC this time of year. There is your clue.
