Two Ipod Questions

With DFW radio SUCKING so badly, I've been thinking about buying an Ipod
radio transmitter, where my radio can broadcast my Ipod. Yet I have heard that
DFW has too many FM stations and I won't be able to find a frequency to play
my Ipod on clearly. Is this true?

Second question, I'd like to find some disco Ipod playlist for a New Year's Eve
party. Any idea on where I'd find something like that? Would I just do a
Google search for this?

HEY JAY NOT SURE ABOUT IPOD, BUT I HAVE THE FM TRANSMITTER FOR MY SIRIUS RADIO SET ON 89.9 AND I DON'T HAVE ANY TROUBLE. HAPPY NEW YEAR

I'm surprised, considering you're on an adjacant to KERA 90.1

SORRY FOR THE BAD INFO JAY, IT IS ACTUALLY 89.5 THAT IT IS SET ON. THANK YOU ROBERT FOR POINTING THAT OUT, YOU GOT ME OUT TO MY CAR TO DOUBLE CHECK......OOPS THX

I use 88.1 in my car for XM Radio...

I think the UNT radio station uses 88.1 for their frequency or it might be TCU's ???
I receive that station quite well on my in-dash radio, all around the DFW area.

KNTU 88.1
KEOM 88.5
KTCU 88.7
KNON 89.3
KERA 90.1

Dallas has quite a few non-comms, so I imagine use of those ipod transmitter devices would be challanging.

I don't have a problem at all. When the XM radio is off, I get KNTU on 88.1 but when I turn my XM unit on, KNTU is overrided by the XM signal. Never had any problem with bleed over.

I've always found 92.9 to be good for most of the area South of Lewisville. Also, 91.5 is decent, as long as you are not around a Drive-In Theater.

But if you must stick to the 80's, go with 88.7. With even a quarter-watt broadcast, you can get a clear signal just about anywhere in the market.

I hope the folks at KNTU and KTCU aren't reading this thread! They might not like knowing some of you are potentially jamming their signal, even if those little transmitters put out no more than around 200 feet of power.

You're still potentially jamming your next door neighbor, or the driver next to you, etc.

You never know!

I don't see the big deal at all. If its in your car and you are controlling what you want to listen to,and its not interferring with the overall signal of KNTU,KTCU,then the "problem" is immaterial. A passing car listening to one of the above would not be affected, anymore than a "tropo" type condition( if at all),and no more than a couple of seconds at best.

Well you're overlooking side by side driving where there are no passing attempts going on. Plus there's the car in front or car behind you to consider. Apartments and condos should also be considered.

The key word here is "potentially".

I wouldn't rank tropo / ducting in the same category, as those are uncontrollable episodes.

If you can hear the licensed station on the frequency you use for those low power transmitters, it’s probably wise to err on the side of caution to pick another frequency.

Of course this is just my opinion. :)

It works both ways, Robert. Something (not a radio station) jams my XM signal between Joshua and Cleburne on State 174.

Could it be power lines? :)

Maybe the Radio Avenger could figure out what it is. ;D
