TWO JEFF BOLTONS RIGHT ?

Trust KLIF to hire the wrong one. Because for sure this is not the same Jeff Bolton that packs up his stuff and heads off to the Middle East and New Orleans to get right in the action and reports back on it...

Nah, this one sits/stands in the studio prattling on about "traffic and weather" for the entire 7-8am hour because " we want to get you to work safely" when the bad weather is still FOUR hours away.

If I wanted an hours weather I would have stayed home and watched the weather channel.

Stimulating radio ? (KLIF call it) ... Don't make me laugh !

Gotta agree with that. I have a long commute, but have found that traffic reports really don't help me much. So, when Jeff announced today that his show would be a protracted traffic report, I tuned elsewhere.

Leave it to Cume-less to excel in mediocrity. ::)

I actually heard him this morning say that he doesn't have guests because "it shows a lack of preparation and material" or some such nonsense. This is coming from the guy that:

- reminds the audience after virtually every commercial break that "the previous guy, Ankarlo, has moved on to other opportunities" and that he is just a regular middle-class guy who is from here, glad to be back, blah blah blah. Enough already. It's been two weeks and we know who you are and what happened to the previous guy, probably before you did. Stop pandering to try to get us to relate to you.

- has the thoroughly competent J-D Wells on for extended segments practically every morning to fill his airtime with his material and topics. Get some originality and do your own show with your own material and topics.

- calls himself the "Mayor of Commonsenseville" about every two minutes. This is the most ridiculous moniker I have ever heard. Lose it.

- wastes valuable air time with the requisite "Who are you and what do you do" to every caller and then thanks them for their response. Shut up and let the caller stay on topic without breaking the flow of the show. What does it really matter anyway who they are and what they do? They are calling to give their input and opinion.

This show is truly painful to listen to for anything more than a few minutes, and I have a pretty high threshold for pain. Unfortunately there is not much else on that interests me at that time of the morning.

Excellent points! Maybe YOUUU should be programming the station.

Thanks. If I was programming the station I would dump Bolton immediately, move JDW to mornings, leave Beck where he is, and put Savage on live from 5-8 instead of the current tape-delayed show. I would also dump both the egotistical O'Reilly and repetitive Ramsey and pay Ed Wallace whatever he wanted to fill the 1-5 slot exclusively. He is pretty much the smartest guy on radio and his post 9-11 shows were some of the best analysis and commentary I've ever heard anywhere. But that's just me.

Oh don't get me started on the "where are you from and what do you do ? " WHO GIVES A ..........

I heard him say about not wanting guests on too ... It seems weird, like a "karaoke radio " show. Next up at the mike is..... where are you from and what do you do ?

The ONE good thing about being the MAYOR of commonsenseville is that Mayors are elected and the people will decide on this Mayor very soon.

Stimulating radio ? what a load of old tosh !

I am warming to JD though... just a little. JB has ONE more week with me .... less than that if Clint keeps taking over on the mike. " I have a lot more control now than I used to" .... hmmm That says a lot to us Clint.

All solid moves again. However i'm not sold on JDW. He's getting better but that VOICE. :'(

Definately agree on Savage. Whether you agree with his politics he IS very entertaining. Ramsey is ok but i'd like to see Dr. Laura back. O'reilly is ok but just doesn't have that RADIO presence that he has on TV.

Again i agree with you on Ed Wallace. That dude seems to know everything and explains it in an easy going layman's way. To me Ed sounds like DALLAS.

Oh please get rid of that hick Rusty Humphries!!!!!

As for Jeff Bolton. I'm happy he got back to his hometown but i think he's has bitten off more than he can chew in Mornings. He seems intelligent but he just doesn't have the polished sound down yet. He shouldn't let the jerk off bitter Ankarlo fans get to him. All he's trying to do is keep his career going but it may be too early for him to be holding down MORNINGS in the 5th largest market.

I think KLIF put the wrong guy in mornings. Wells is the better of the two. He is a bit pukey but is far more polished and entertaining. Bolton simply stumbles through his show and is not compelling in any way. Dump Bolton and put Wells in mornings and find somebody else for afternoons.

My very humble two cents worth.

I thought Wells WAS on in the mornings - or at least he IS every time I turn on. Like this morning, 20 minutes recap of last nights show - but WHY at the 7am hour ? Why at all actually. Are they that short of guests or does Bolton not have enough material ? Probably the latter because the weather was good and the roads were quiet this morning.... "Let's wake Wells up at 7am"

It is JUST the wrong time for KLIF to be bringing out the new buzz word " stimulating" talk because with both new hosts it is anything but. In fact rather than rousing into action it does the opposite and sends the listeners to sleep - even the host's too it seems. Wells on Bolton's show this morning "wasn't really sure what (last night's guest on his show) attorney William Brewer was talking about" and would have to have him back to ask him.

When guests are allowed to come onto either show and spout off their own rhetoric without ever being challenged because either "I don't want them not to like me after the interview and not come back" or maybe just because the host is not intelligent enough to play devil's advocate, then it just breeds boring Karaoke radio... who's next up at the mike please singing "mediocrity"

Be glad when my XM radio arrives .. their HAS to be a good station on there, right ?

If KLIF wants to ever see a 2.0 share again they better dump both of them NOW and bring in some major market talent, none of the Vegas/Austin crap-ola.

I have been a faithful listener to KLIF for years. I always thought Ankarlo was a little square but he seemed to harden up about the same time he started getting tough on illegal aliens. I kinda' miss the guy.
So, Bolton is the morning guy huh? Him and the new afternoon guy switched places so much I was confused.
I guess the afternoon guy is the one who likes to tell people about how he played high school football.

The whole idea of 'Commonsenseville' seems pretty sophomoric. I feel as though I graduated from commonsenseville long ago. I want to listen to someone smarter than me, not as smart or less. I just don't see much in him but there isn't much competition in that time slot.

The afternoon guy ticked a lot of people off with his stance on Dateline NBC. I'm not very excited about him either.

So what would save KLIF? I'd have to see a list of hosts available for each time slot but I have always thought KLIF needed to have Glenn Beck on live for all three hours. The same goes for Micheal Savage.
Dave Ramsey is a great guy but he is like Dr. Laura. They both teach white trash how to get out of situations that idiots get themselves into. Rusty is okay but who wants to hear a show that occured 8 hours after it was aired? So, I'm unsure about the early morning slot, I like Medved and Prager, O'Reilly is okay but as I have stated, I'd have to know who is available at what time slot to pick the perfect line-up but I could fix KLIF if given the chance and I have ZERO experience as a program director. I love KLIF to much to see it go downhill like this.

So you have ZERO experience as a pd. Sounds to me you're the perfect candidate for todays radio ;D

One very annoying thing about Bolton: why is it that he reports yesterday's news like it's today's news? So far this week EVERY TIME he has reported news events he has gotten the day it happened wrong. It's like his show is in a one-day tape delay! Events that he says happened "today" actually happened yesterday and events that happened "yesterday" actually happened the day before. When announcing the discovery of Kelly James' body on Mt. Hood in Oregon this morning he said it was discovered yesterday (Monday) when it was actually discovered Sunday. This morning he teased with "breaking news in the entertainment field" and later said that Joe Barbera had died today, when the news actually came out yesterday afternoon.

This morning he did basically the same show that Mark Davis did yesterday, talking about the basketbrawl over the weekend and how NBA fights are treated differently than hockey or nascar fights. But Bolton did go one step further and complain about the "unfair" standard that black athletes are held to. What a bunch of nonsense. Note to Jeff: Listen to Mark's show to see how it's done right, not to get tomorrow's show prep.

He really needs to quit crying wolf, realize that his listening audience is probably more plugged in to current events than he is, and not artificially build up drama in his show. And for goodness sake get the easy facts right.

Equalizer stated: "I want to listen to someone smarter than me, not as smart or less." Couldn't had said it better myself.

Well put Aerodaves. I thought the same when he mentioned the police officer being killed and got the actual date wrong - I thought perhaps a second one had been killed, but no.

It's not just his facts though, listen to the jingles, show teases or whatever they are called ... on a Friday advertising " Listen to Jeff Bolton live tomorrow (Saturday? ? ? ) between 5-9am"

...and wasting 30 minutes this morning on "why my show won't be like Limbaughs and 'the great Americans' because 94% of radio listeners don't want that type of show.... aren't they 1 and 2 in the ratings ? Now there is common sense...ville.

Perhaps KLIF is now on a 24 hour delay...

That's right, I knew there was a third example this week of him getting the day wrong, I just couldn't remember what it was. Glad I'm not the only one noticing this.
