Two Lineup Changes

Look for 104.7 to pick up Levin eventually, as basically he and Hannity are now packaged together. Hannity 3-6, Levin 6-9, Savage 9-mid, Coast to Coast mid-...

Just if it's Citadel. 104.7 gets Hannity from Premiere, while Levin comes from Citadel.

Would love to see ellis go where the DRIVE is now. That show is still a train wreck to me. Or at least put him on for the HERD....
I would listen to Ellis over anyone at 1250. The DRIVE has been listenable during the Steeler season. Cowherd is totally unlistenable. With some of the stupid things he says, you hope he's kidding, but you know he's not.

Cowherd is one of my favorite shows, and I know one high-ranking programmer who thinks he is one of the top hosts in the country right now. I'll grant you that there are some gaps in his preparation but in my book he's entertaining enough to make up for it. However, he will never work here because this market only wants to hear old-school Stan and Guy type stuff. (Cowherd is the West Coast morning show for LA, Seattle and Phoenix... he also pulls good numbers in Atlanta).

On the few occasions that I've tried to listen to the Drive, hearing Paulsen trying to break down X's and O's and talking about the Titans' corners in depth might hold the hard-core audience but it means the station will never break out beyond that narrow realm. and that's too bad, beacuse we all know Scott can be entertaining on other levels as well.

I agree with you that Pittsburgh is a much more knowledgable and savy sports town than LA, etc, so Cowherd is doomed here.

To me the Drive only works when Paulson is the "every fan" and the traffic cop. If he tries to come off as a football (or any sort of sports) expert, the show suffers, because it's quickly obviouis that he's not. Logan has come a long way and can be very enjoyable. Crowe is a waste of time, but he's better than Chris Mack and Ken Laird.

Knowledgeable, yes, but a town that would rather hear Madden do 10 minutes on who the Pens' 4th-line left winger should be, over Cowherd's show is maybe a little less sophisticated than LA, Seattle, Phoenix, or Atlanta. Having said that, I'd still much rather be here than any of those places.

Dead on about Scott. When he tries to get in too deep you can see through it in a nanosecond.

pman44...your right on the button with scott. he's at his best when he's just a fan, not trying to be on point with every aspect of sport. It comes off as trying to hard to be authoritative. There is no need for it, because, damn it, it's just sports. Crowe is another story. What is that about anyway? He makes claims to his past sport prowess and tries to relate to sports through some delusional idea that he was really a great athlete!!! Guys do this all the time. The further away you get from your high school athletic career, the better it gets! Crowe should be investigated or apply for the head football coaching job at Notre Dame!!!!!! yOU MAY HAVE TO THINK ABOUT THAT ONE. Scott and Logan work better by themselves. Kind of like Mike and Mike. Golic is the real jock and Greenie approaches the subject as just a huge fan...not an expert.

Cowherd is an NBA shill (a requirement these days at ESPN). That alone makes him very unusable in this market, especially at this time of year. ESPN doesn't care because he's the morning show in West Coast NBA markets and just filling space in places like Pittsburgh, Tampa, Nashville, St. Louis, Chicago, and Minneapolis.

As much as both of us prefer the NHL to the NBA, the NBA is the more popular league by leaps and bounds domestically and globally. Being a fan and talking about it on one's show does not make him a "shill". You make it sound like covering the league reflects a lack of integrity (locker room gun incidents notwithstanding...).
