Two Low Power NYC stations have their licenses canceled

Two co-owned low power NYC TV licenses have been canceled as of today. These were channels 5 and 10, WNYX-LD and WNXY-LD, respectively.
FCC Cancellation Letter
The licensee had been something called NY Spectrum Holding Company LLC. Neither station had responded to a Letter of Inquiry from the Commission, which asked whether the stations had actually returned to the air in July, after having been off for the previous 12 months.

This seems to be a gross oversight, at worst, by the former licensee. Or at best, a miscommunication between the Commission and the licensee. These are two NYC TV licenses we’re talking about after all.

FCC seems to be slowly digging through the LD/LPTV applications etc to find stations that have been basically abandoned. Not even built. Took the FCC 5 years to delete several CPs in Boise that never had been built with no app for license filed long after they were due.
