A new radio station is now broadcasting in Dallas

Mix 104.1 FM is an adult contemporary station, offering the biggest hits of today and yesterday.

What is this? This date from WFAA's story is today, but they don't mention any call letters of specific broadcast areas other than "Dallas-Fort Worth". At first I thought this was the old Sanger allocation, KTCG, but the owner's names don't match.

Also, the Mix brand is already taken by KDMX. Who thought this was a good idea? C&D in 24 hours or less.
 
Isn’t KDMX branding as “Now”? And you still have Latino Mix, IIRC.

There are several LPFMs on 104.1 in and around The Metroplex, which will cause confusion.

Someone on the north end of the metro area will have to confirm whether or not KTCG has made a change.
 
I swear that @chriscervantez posted about this station awhile ago and the guy who runs it found the thread and commented.

The article mentions it is run by "Your Choice Radio"...that was the group that was leasing the HD3 of KLNO 94.1 for a while.

Two guesses...
One guess it is running on one of the HD channels of KTCG 104.1, which is run by the FunAsia group that also has 104.9. Both 104.1 and 104.9 were running several HD subchannels. So, for it to be "Mix 104.1," presumably it could be on one of the 104.1 subchannels.

As someone decided to crash the front of my 2023 Challenger that was minding its own business being parked in the parking lot of the gym at the time, I am without an HD radio to confirm since it my sole HD radio is with the car at a collision repair shop for the rest of the month...

Second guess...the "Your Choice Radio" group originally used the HD subchannel of KLNO to feed K285HJ 104.9, which has a CP to move to 104.1. Like before, it has a very limited reach around Cedar Hill. Presumably, it would still need a channel to feed it.

I can't confirm it since the 104.1 McKinney translator for KTCG would block it. And I can't check if the KLNO has a "Mix 104.1" subchannel now to feed it with the car in the shop.

I’m in Grand Prairie, so I can take a drive to Cedar Hill to check on the 104.1 there later tonight after I get off work. Not quite sure what the source would be, since 94.1 HD3 is now Ya Hala FM. KLNO doesn’t have an HD2 and the HD4 is still La Mejor. I’ll provide an update when I can! 🙂

It is sometimes not up to date, but the FCC database shows KBFB 97.9 is feeding that Cedar Hill area translator now. So, it may be worth a scan there. The HD2 was KSOC and it had a HD3, that I think was regional Mexican the last time I even checked.
 
WFAA updated the article. They meant to say “portions of North Texas” as opposed to the DFW area. The station is KTCG out of Sanger.
 
It's not KTCG. None of its subchannels are this format. How in the world did this story wind up on WFAA's site? It reads like an ad.
 
Story from WFAA is now gone. It also read pretty fishy to me. But when it was still up, the story included an FCC map link that showed KTCG as the calls.
 
It’s not KBFB. The FCC database is way outdated for that translator. I can’t get 104.1 KTCG here, but I would be surprised if it was them. I get off in an hour, so I’ll check the rest of the HD subchannels that I couldn’t get in my brief drive during my lunch in the car. I’ll also check 104.1 in Cedar Hill.
 
Update: It’s not on any HD subchannel. It’s not on the 104.9/104.1 translator in Cedar Hill. 104.9 has been off the air for over a year and I don’t think the CP for 104.1 was ever completed. Also KTCG and its HD subchannels are still Radio Caravan/FunAsia. And it’s not KZGP-LP. Who knows?! 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ve hand-curated the music mix on 104.1 FM, free from corporate influence, and designed to bring something fresh and authentic to the Dallas Metroplex. With a team of talented DJs from the United Kingdom, we're aiming for a sound that is both original and refreshing.

Now we are all puzzled.

If this is for real, what station is it being broadcast from? Is it (supposedly) on a main channel or an HD subchannel? Is this on a translator somewhere? And “150 mile radius”?

Sorry, but my B.S. meter is going berserk with this one.

Your message posted you don’t need to send it again.

So if I’m understanding correctly, your station isn’t currently on the air on 104.1? So it’s going to be on that translator that was on 104.9, and you’re waiting for an HD subchannel and work on the antenna to be done before you’re actually on the air?
