Two more formats for Charlotte

A little bird informed me WKQC-HD2 is now finally on with their 60's-70's oldies format. It had been ready since June but CBS was waiting for permanent athority from the FCC.

Sister station WBAV-HD2 has their Smooth Jazz format going as well.

I wonder if the NAB Radio Show coming to Charlotte at the end of the month had anything to do with all this?

Nice to have a couple of other format choices.

oo I thought it meant for radio formats not HD format change!

Supposedly....but a good friend of mine who is a consulting engineer said they really didn't have to wait. So who knows?

That would be just typical of the FCC, having their fingers in things not needed, and not putting their fingers in where they really need to.

I think it's more a case of CBS being paranoid and doing everything by the book even though they could have obtained interim athority easily. They took the whole Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction very seriously.

So V101.9 went with Smooth Jazz after all. I thought CBS had changed their minds, because it was no longer listed as a format on the hdradio.com site, glad they stuck with it. Have you had a chance to listen? Are the stations themselves doing a lot of cross promoting of the new hd formats? :)

I am surprised no one has said anything about WBT-HD. Also WLNK has added a couple of Sub channels...WLNK-HD-2 is the best of Bob and Ramona or some such...WLNK-HD-3 is a simulcast of WBT.

Testing123

I only heard that WBT was testing HD the other day. I'll be sure to check it out tomorrow. I was also not aware of WLNK doing anything more than main channel HD. I wonder if the NAB Radio Show being here this week is spuring all the HD activity?

WFAE-HD3 is now BBC World Service full time.

I have the Sangean HDT-1. It seems to drop out of HD for no reason. Maybe I can find out why this is happening at the NAB Radio Show this week.
