Two New CPs issued for two more Translators

I was updating my national radio station lists and was on FCC website and noticed two new local translators have construction permits. EMF is listed as the owner for Atlanta's to be licensed 103.7 is listed as EMF but radio locator shows WIFN as the originating station. FCC web site shows that this a move from Somerset KY which has to make it part of the recent AM window to move translators 250 miles. So is EMF going to sell to the dickeys ? There is also a Marietta to be licensed 106.3 thats moving here from Albany also owned by EMF. Radio locator shows WFOM as the originating station. Is it possible that EMF is using the AM translator window to move into new markets by getting CPs to move their translators by using AM stations then somehow buy them back from the AM station owners. Since the Dickeys already use a translator for WCNN its believable that they want the same for wifn and wfom. Now how these translators compete against a 100kw 92.9 is beyond me.

Just more LAME radio.

My feeling is that EMF wants as much nationwide coverage as possible. I am sure the prospect of selling unneeded translators and using them to make deals to acquire signals they can use is among the goals. After upgrades and deals to operate on HD sub channels (which can feed the commercial band translators) the ability to make money or trades on the unneeded translators I am sure its being used to fund growth of EMF.

I do agree that the Chance of KLOVE coming to Atlanta is weak. I do wonder if EMF or other radio groups will find a way to get these translators that were suppose to help AM stations to broadcast FM or HD side channel programming like the translators do no.

There goes 103.7 Chuck FM...Majic 102.9 (now WDUN-FM) bit the dust in the ATL when that translator came on the air.

Just discovered that another translator CP has been issued for EMF on 93.3fm. Now WCFO is listed as its parent station. There is a total null towards WVFJ but this could block any Joy Fm signal within 285 and to the north and east of the city. I know WVFJ had talked about being heard downtown someday. Maybe they buy WCFO or at least the translator and do something like Cox does with 107.1 or Joy FM loses most of the Atlanta population.

Rick, I think the latest change that WVFJ implemented, the one that was blocked by WALR for so long, was their last option. It's been so important to them that they had coverage in Atlanta. They're not going to be happy if the 93.3 translator is built.

Radio Training Network has filed an informal objection to this translator, correctly stating that it will interfere with existing listeners to WVFJ.

The antenna pattern for the proposed translator seems to be pretty interesting.
