Two new logs tonight on AM 8/11/2011

Got 2 new logs tonight, nice opening on AM (and weird at times, 1600 had a weak Mexican at times and no other stations on the frequency at all).

1300: KCMY Carson City, NV: Good signal over the top of KKOL with country music and ID "My Country 1300". 597 miles.

750: KOAL Price, UT: Good signal with an ad mentioning Utah under KXTG. Have heard it in Yakima before. 792 miles.

Did KXL (AM) really flip their calls to KXTG? Must've missed that one.....

I once got KLOO in Lynnwood about 16 years ago. They were running a standards/MOR format then (classic country?) I heard "Make The World Go Away" Eddy Arnold.....a song that can be heard on either format, but I think they were standards.....

You probably don't hear KVRI on 1600 do you? They fizzle out around the Skagit/Whatcom line during the day and are pretty much gone at the Skagit/Snohomish line. Even though 90% of it's signal is blasted north/northwest, it does have a small amount of skywave bounce southward.....I don't think it gets far though

At night I hear KVRI mixed with all the clutter, which includes KGST-CA and KOPB-OR. Have gotten KOHI only once at sunset a couple years ago.

KXL did switch to KXTG. Remember, KXL was simulcasting on FM at 101.1 FM after KUFO went bye bye, and KXTG (The Game, Sports) used to be on 95.5. They decided to put KXTG on 750 and 95.5 was a mystery until the switch date, when new callsign KBFF was put in, and 95.5 switched to "Live 95.5", an Adult Top 40 format that fights with KRSK 105.1 for ratings. Now, 101.1 is exclusively KXL's news/talk format.

I remember hearing 1490 KBZY Salem in Everett one time with no other stations interfering.

Also note, when KXL did their switch. 1190 KEX added a 99 watt translator at 102.3 FM.

I don't think I've heard KBZY 1490 at all here. The graveyard slop is too strong. However, from memory I've pulled out KBRO, KWOK, KEYG, KLOG and KBIS from the slop, all from WA.

Would KEX move to FM?? like KXL did..or KEX don't want to give up the AM Power House at 1190

They have that 99 watt translator on 102.3 for KEX. They're maxed out in ownership of full powers on FM down there and they all seem to be doing pretty good. Unless they want to sacrifice KFBW (and I would have a hard time seeing why.....But anything can happen these days....)
