Two Newly Authorized Translators Within NYC to be Used by WVIP 93.5

RadioInsight reports that the FCC has authorized the construction of two translators that were applied for by the River Vale Media Foundation. Both are expected to be used by WVIP 93.5.
One is W252CS, located near the Brooklyn side of the Brooklyn Bridge. The authorization is for 10 watts, at 103 meters on 98.3 FM. The coverage map indicates it will primarily reach lower Manhattan, and much of northern Brooklyn.
The other is W268BY, to be set up in Flushing Queens. It is permitted to run 38 watts from a height of about 65 meters on 101.5 FM. The signal map indicates it will be audible primarily in Queens and a small part of the south Bronx.
Currently WVIP has the Voice of Russia on HD2, Music of Your Life on HD3, and sister station WVOX on HD4. Perhaps the Voice of Russia or some newly leased broadcast on the HD3 will be relayed on the Queens translator. Maybe the Brooklyn one will be used to give WVIP a stronger signal in Brooklyn? WVIP broadcasts primarily Caribbean programming, and of course many people from that area reside in Brooklyn.
I wonder whether WKJY 98.3 in LI will object to W252CS.

NO! I really like listening to both K-98.3 (I still like to call it K-JOY, even though it is now just K), and NJ 101.5. Now, I may have a mix of K-98.3, and the new translator; and on 101.5 that "Brooklyn Mix" pirate, and a mix of NJ, and Translator on 101.5! Really FCC? Hopefully K-98.3 will start a petition, because I know well, K-98.3 works very well almost until Central Park. That is all in the 98.3 translator's signal.

I know there was a proposal on a 98.3 in NJ at the very northern edge of the coverage map, barely interfered, and the station won so the translator is at a new frequency. Here I hope K-98.3 steps up and does the same thing!

To 101.5, there is less of a shot to overrule the translator to somewhere else, because NJ 101.5's signal is weaker because the pirate is taking over it most of the time. When there was no pirate, I was able to hear NJ 101.5 in the Forest Hills section OK. On a positive note, maybe this translator will take off the crazy "Brooklyn Mix" pirate!

10 watts? Well that should pretty much make it the lowest powered Caribbean FM station on the air in Brooklyn.

The FCC also granted an STA (temporary permit) for W292DV to operate with 4 watts from the Citi Building in Long Island City on 106.3 FM. It too had applied for authorization to rebroadcast WVIP 93.5 FM. The signal map optimistically shows coverage of much of central Manhattan, western Queens and northern Brooklyn.
So it appears that 3 translators within NYC have been authorized to rebroadcast WVIP (or its HD subchannels). Seems like quite a win for WVIP.
Perhaps WVIP is seeking to emulate KORL FM in Honolulu. Each of that Hawaiian broadcaster's 3 HD subchannels is rebroadcast on a separate translator. So in effect KORL is operating 4 separate stations fed from one frequency.

That map isn't accurate. It's using a directional antenna pointed ENE. Sometimes the FCC maps don't have the DA plotted right and you get a big, beautiful circle where a flashlight beam is more accurate.

With Family Radio owning 106.3 WFME in Westchester and their signal heard in Midtown Manhattan well from my experience, and them trying to keep WFME in NYC, I think WFME may do a petition to stop it, because with that map, 75% and more has WFME in that signal.

Also, the Brooklyn part, Thunder 106.3 (WKMK) rejected the original W292DV that was supposed to be Smooth Jazz 106.3 carrying a stunting WLTW HD2 at the time. Some parts that they talked about in their first petition (Brooklyn, Lower Manhattan), are again seen by the map of the new signal.

Below is a link to the FCC's explanation of why it issued an STA to Apple 107.1 to operate W292DV from the Long Island City site over Press Communication's strenuous objections. Basically it concludes that Press failed to provide actual complaints from WKMK (Thunder Country) listeners that are within the 60db contour of the translator.
This may be of interest to anyone wondering why some translators in heavily populated areas are permitted, while some other proposals are turned down.

AllAccess is reporting that the translators authorized in Queens and Brooklyn about a year ago mentioned in my original post are both being sold to the same buyer, for $5,000 each.
Even though they have very limited signals, this still seems like a very reasonable price. Each should be able to reach a considerable amount of people, given the population density in the areas where they are located. And another translator in Queens recently sold for 3.5 million dollars. Why were there such extreme differences in the sales prices?
