Two Omni stations rechristened as Joytv

CHNU and CIIT in Vancouver and Winnipeg will be known as Joytv 10 and Joytv 11 as of Sept 1, 2008.

The local, over-the-air stations - known as OMNI 10 and 11 under previous owner Rogers Broadcasting - will relaunch on Sept. 1 with simulcasts of US programs including 60 Minutes and Smallville running alongside stock-in-trade religious programming.

So, CHNU in seven years has been known as NOW TV, OMNI 10, CHNU 10, and now Joytv 10. And in another couple of years it'll be something else.

Nice job with building brand loyalty.

Do you think JOY TV will merge with CTS TV (Edmonton, Calgary, Burlington ON)?

A very good question, but I say no because Joy tv is owned by the same people who already own Vision tv, ONE, (the mind body and spirit channel), S-Vox, and the Christian channel.

Therefore, if a merge were the plan, CTS would have become Vision, and Vision would have become Vision 2 by now...If the CRTC would even allow that...(?)

I may be wrong, but if the owner of Vision were to own CTS, wouldn't that be on par with CTV owning City?

AFAIK, no, since Vision is a basic cable channel and not a local station in the GTA. As such, it does not have simsub rights like CTS does.
For example, CTV also own basic cable channel CTV Newsnet, CBC owns Newsworld, Rogers or Corus or someone else with local stations owns YTV, Corus owns W, etc.

Thanks. I was thinking so, just wanted to be sure.
I guess it's a simple case of
"I'm sorry, my station is not for sale..."
