Two Phoenix TV helicopters collide

Re: Two Phoenix TV helicopters collide

Hopefully this will help put an end to this inane local news practice. But I doubt it.

Re: Two Phoenix TV helicopters collide

This entire episode is what comes from media excess. As much as people enjoy TV Candy like this, it isn't news, much less warranting live coverage on stations all over a market. But actually the most ludicrous thing about this entire incident were reports that the District Attorney was considering charging the driver with a crime for somehow causing the helicopter crash! Was it the driver of the vehicle that caused the media to go hog wild over a car chase? Don't think so. Extra not guilty on that charge, and a civil suit probably would go right into an insurance policy limit settlement at best.

Had this been an accident involving law enforcement officials in the performance of their duties, you'd have me, but charging someone for the media frenzy over who gets the best coverage for the 6pm news (while not paying attention to the fact there was other aircraft in the sky) isn't the problem of the guy on the ground.
