Two WFMX 'blasts from the past'

My recollection is that High Country Communications, which I believe was based in Texas (the company that owned WFMX and WSIC when I started) sold the station because of a death in the family of one of the executives. That's why 'FMX went on the market in '89, and was bought by Adventure Communications, of West Virginia.

WFMX was owned by Mercury Broadcasting from Texas in somewhat of a shady deal with Clear Channel!

Uh??? Not following you on that Turkey???

WFMX was a great station. What a signal. It could be heard in Charleston sometimes before our 105.3 moved to 105.5.
I think you've got that backwards. Your station started out on 105.5 and moved to 105.3. Did it move again?

Not many people who aren't audio geeks realize that the analog "Dolby Surround" system (prior to Dolby Digital) was a reworking of the CBS labs SQ matrix.
My one experience with Dolby Surround was standing in front of a stereo at a KMart in Myrtle Beach playing "She Blinded Me with Science". A really neat experience.

Yep, it did. It moved back probably 10 years ago. WCOO was at 105.3, then it moved to 105.5 when it was still Groovin' Oldies (before they went to the Bridge).

Even with the 105.5 there, I can still hear Augusta well many days at 105.7. If Statesville was still on, I'm sure I would hear them some.

Wikipedia doesn't mention the change back, or the change to 105.3, though the 105.3 frequency is mentioned. It looks like an error. Where might we find documentation of the changes? Actually, I was where I could have last week, but I just had too much else to do.
