Harvey is the sure winner in the mornings on KISX's move. Now urban listeners have a choice of which ones to listen to. In the words of a liner that started the urban AC craze, by way of the former Y98-5 in Houston in the early to mid 90s, "The kids have their station; now you have yours (in fact, this line is on every UAC station)." It's too bad that V99-3 has a hard time launching the format, but I believe it's about time that they switch places with the Blaze and let them go the full 50,000 (can you imagine 99.3 The Blaze?). I mean let's face it. V-99 can just go ahead and gain the CHR format since Clear Channel surrendered it to UAC and just drop this cookie-cutter form of programming. Running the same 20 songs on a frequency that recently dropped country is very bad for the audience and will hurt revenue-wise among other things.
To sum this up, I wish CC luck in the launching of their new found format. I wonder what the hell took them so long to decide this factor? KZEY at one time or another had a UAC format that barely even make the Tyler-Longview top 10 Arbitrons (and right now they are a vast wasteland--tumbleweeds and all).<P ID="signature">______________
