Tyler - Gillian Sheridan and Chuck McDonald to CBS19

Well it looks like in East Texas, Gillian has moved from her long association with KLTV to a new broadcast home at CBS19 and Chuck making it his third station to anchor the news. I always wonder why anchors that started out at KLTV always end up following Phil Hurley at every station he has ran? Again, they're professionals. They can do that. I wish them success in their new endeavor.

Congrats to them both! No doubt they will make a great anchor team.

Wonder how much this pairing will fan the ratings fires for CBS19?

I actually think it's quite an odd pairing. How old is Chuck now? He's got to be near 70?! It said on the CBS 19 website, he's been doing Wall Street trader work. However, I also know he was doing production and voice work as well. So, I guess that business has dried up. Gillian, Joe, and Scirto always had good chemistry at KLTV (at least on camera). Gillian's humor mixed with Chuck & John Adams dullness just seems like an odd fit. I'm sure they'll cut into KLTV's numbers a little bit, but as long as Scirto is at KLTV, they'll be number one. Everyone in the market loves him.

I guess KYTX is trying to shed its "Anchorwoman" image. ;D

It's now been several days since the debut of Chuck and Gillian. Since I'm not in the area anymore, what are the first impressions of this new anchor team?

This has got to be the worst team since the 89 Cowboys...who thought that this was a good idea? Chuck MacDonald and Gillian Sheridan have zero chemistry and the on-air patter is worse than the old days at KLTV. And - I think that it's time that the local news stations actually looked somewhere else for anchors instead of recycling the out of work has-beens from the other stations in the market.

While I agree with that....Where will they find the "new talent". There are barely any warm bodies in the Lufkins and Victorias of the world anymore...

There's always the DFW market.....they sent Bob Gooding, Judy Jordan, and Scott Chesner to our market.

Well...how about gleaning something from the 150 other markets in the US?? I think that there are several markets about the size of Tyler/Longview/Jacksonville out there that could provide someone with a fresh take on delivering what passes for news around here. And since when did KLTV become a church bulletin, anyway?

Playing to their audience. I grew up in East Texas and enjoy visiting...but the STILL narrow minded, Bible thumping views forced upon you get old. There are less and less people willing to pack up and move for radio or TV gigs anymore. Couple that with stodgy managers that only know how to run things one way...and you get the same ol same ol trotted outt here because "they're familiair"....

Adding Gillian was great. But Chuck McDonald is way past his prime. I hate to say that, but it's true. He's been gone for so long, that he's become irrelevant. I knew this would be an odd pairing. The reason why it worked so well at KLTV, was no matter how they all felt about each other behind the scenes, Gillian, Joe, and Scirto all had GOOD chemistry together, because they're all around the same age, give or take a few years. It's just not a good fit for Gillian to be paired with Chuck & John.
