Tyler translator bites the dust

I noticed that Paulino Bernal Evalgelism filed for an STA to remain silent. Seems they're looking for a new tower for 94.1 (K231AL) since the owner raised the rent. In its original application the station had indicated that they'd be rebroadcasting KJTX 104.5 from Jefferson. That never made sense, since KJTX is a Gospel station and doesn't fit what Bernal is doing elsewhere. While Radio-Locator shows that Wisdom Ministries owns KJTX and the Tyler translator, a check of FCC records reveals that it has always been owned by Bernal.

Well, I'm sorry to say that I never heard the translator when I was in Tyler and in fact I don't know if it was ever on the air. Meanwhile, the apparently unlicensed translator (or pirate) on 94.3 in the Tyler area is still on the air, right?

The reason for the stay is this translator was part of the Great Translator Invasion a couple of years ago. It has never been built, and the permit would expire without this stay. I believe the stay expires sometime in July. I have no idea how they could plan on rebroadcasting KJTX. Translator rules in the commercial band require that the originating station be received off the air. Satellite, microwave, phone lines or IP solutions aren't supposed to qualify. It would be a really good trick picking up KJTX in Tyler on a reliable basis, but maybe it can be done.

There is another construction permit for a Tyler translator from "Starboard Media" for 97.9. That construction permit will expire in a few days. They will have to file for a stay or get it on the air very quickly. It shows the originating station as being DKTEN-LP in Palestine. Since "D" stands for "deleted" that may be a good trick.
