Personnel is easy to control. They probably did what they had to in order to survive. Sure, good people got canned. This is radio...it happens to all of us. I wish them well but my guess is they went into this business knowing that it's extremely unpredictable when it comes to longevity.
For the record, the conversations I've had with the Dickey's have been pleasant, cordial and very informative...and yes, I've been let go before also. I dealt with it. Radio is in survival mode right now and we probably will get to the point where every daypart will be automated and every station function will move to some big corporate office. Local radio will virtually disappear until one day, some yahoo will crack open a mic when their satellite fails and lo and behold, local radio will be reborn. Until then, this is how it's going to be. My suggestion, find a different career if this upsets you. Either that or...be patient and then be the yahoo who figures out local radio sounds good again.

More importantly, Chris...Buddy's a cheerleader? We know why we all really watch football. ;D

Nock,
I think there should me more LPFM's, especially 10 watt FM's and LPAM stations should be taken under consideration. All this pirate broadcasting would die down if the Congress would stop, think and don't listen to the NAB and the TAB, as well as other state broadcaster associations that seem to have big money to send up lobbiest to stop this type of broadcasting.
And hey radiodood, Cumulus is now a dead issue. Be thinking about the future than the past. How come YOU have not thought applying for an LPFM?

Hey Scott--- you're making real sense here. You think big money has anything to do with big radio and Congress? Wait til they bail the big-C's out.
As for a LPFM --- All Disco All The Time W750ARBMST

Is any one Live and local (excuse the borrowed phrase) at night any more?
