Urban America Television. We have a low-power UATV affiliate in Fort Worth, channel 28...but I can't imagine anybody makes any money off of it, because most of their programming is reruns. Even infomercials would make more money.<P ID="signature">______________

I've check that out recently from a UPN affiliate in El Dorado (I live in Greenville, MS, but the reception is kind of fringe about 30-40% of the time). In the mornings, they run old movies between 8am and 10am. Maybe they're on a slow process in getting some original programs together let alone the reruns.<P ID="signature">______________

If I'm not mistaken, and I probably am...UATV works as a barter system. All or nearly all advertising is sold by UATV, and the station must air a certain number of hours of the 'network' programming, provided free of charge. America One works in a similar manner (or at least it used to).

Exactly how, if any revenue for a local station is made, is a good question. I would assume local advertising, but how many of these LPTVs actually have a sales staff or sales rep?

UATV was once "American Independent Network", with similar programming to A-1.

Most likely there are "local avails" similar to those provided on satellite networks for cable systems to use.

I know America One has local avails because some of KHIZ/64 Victorville's programming comes from there and they run some local spots during network shows.<P ID="signature">______________

I think WNGS in Springville, New York should add some UATV and/or A1 programming. Right now the Buffalo region has no outlet for UATV or A1, as far as I know. WNGS is mostly infomercials, so they could boost themselves easily. In Detroit, there is a UATV outlet on channel 33 translator W33BY, but no A1 outlet as far as I know. WADL could use A1 to get rid of some of their infomercials.

Not any more -- channel 28 recently dumped UATV for Spanish language religious programming from "Almavision".

Sadly, the argument against that for most station managers is that they are making more money from the infomercials.<P ID="signature">______________

well when your on barter with a network like UATV infomercials are about the only source of revenue.<P ID="signature">______________
