I was looking through the tentative schedule at Matt's College Sports On TV website. I was amazed that college basketball, in particular UConn (via ESPN Plus), was back on WWOR TV "MY 9."

I'm skeptical. Your source is a tripod.com site - not exactly what I'd call reliable. I'm betting he confused the two stations and posted the WWOR logo.
Unfortunately the game is on 11/20, and Zap2It only has schedules up until the 19th; TitanTV until the 17th. I can check back tomorrow to try to confirm.

Yeah you're probably right. A lot of the games show the SNY logo right next to the WWOR logo. It wouldn't make any sense for both stations in the same market to be showing the same UCONN game. (And also that would mean that no CT station is showing the game since there are no other logos there).dhett said:
It's WCTX-TV (MY) channel 59 of New Haven. They always ID on the air as "MY TV 9", which is quite irritating. It's all about the cable postioning. They are indeed cable channel 9 here on Comcast in New Britain, CT (southern Hartford county). As for WCTX, they, along with sister station WTNH-TV (ABC) channel 8 of New Haven, will be airing most of the U-Conn Men's basketball this year.
I'm really suprised that WWOR has not complained about this. Even toward the end od the UPN days, WCTX was billing itself as "UPN9." They did at least have a different logos. Now though, the logos are almost indestinguishable. The only major difference is that WWOR is "MY9" while WCTX is "MY TV9."
It's almsost akin to the radio confusion many years back between long-established Z-100 WHTZ, and the new Z-100, WKSZ in Philly. They subsequently had to rename themselves to Y-100.

My Network TV is owned by FOX. FOX makes all it's affiliates have similar logos. All logo changes must be approved by the network. The same goes for My Network TV. FOX would have to approve if MY TV 9 in New Haven wanted to change to MY TV 59, which is what they should be called in the first place.
