UFC moves to Paramount+

Paramount+ will be the new home of all UFC numbered events and Fight Nights beginning in 2026 as part of a seven-year media rights agreement announced Monday by Paramount -- a Skydance Corporation -- and TKO Group Holdings.

Select marquee fights will also be simulcast on CBS as UFC moves away from its current pay-per-view distribution model. Paramount will exclusively distribute UFC's full slate of 13 marquee numbered events and 30 Fight Nights via its direct-to-consumer streaming platform Paramount+.

That is a large chunk of change. I wonder if the basic tier of P+, the one that comes with Walmart+ will get these events or if users will have to upgrade?

So UFC fans are mad, even though they could still watch it on CBS.
I'll keep beating on this drum: A significant portion of Americans -- around a third -- do not have a way to watch CBS OTA or via cable/satellite/vMVPD subscription.

Sure, most could go to Dollar General and buy an antenna. But complaining on Instagram is easier.

If they can’t get cable how can they stream Paramount +. That would mean they are so far off the grid to not have anything.

Paramount is not new to streaming sports, but they've not had a lot of experience in streaming exclusive, highly watched content. As Netflix learned when they had issues streaming the Paul-Tyson fight, sometimes you don't find out how inadequate your infrastructure is until you try something at that scale. Paramount will need to get this fixed quick.

Maybe that's the way to go with this. Having it OTA increases exposure for the UFC, potentially growing its audience, but keep the main event on a subscription tier to continue to get revenue from current die hard fans. Something only really possible when an entity that owns both a broadcast network and a subscription service holds the rights.
