UFL relocating four teams?

That will totally make it viable.
Six of the eight teams will now play in smaller, more intimate soccer stadiums. They are trying to replicate the relative success of the D.C. team.

If this doesn’t turn attendance issues around the league will be gone in two years.

I don’t think these moves will move the needle on TV ratings. The UFL is basically time filler that draws somewhat better numbers than whatever alternatives Fox and ABC/ESPN might have in hand during the spring.

The UFL moves appear to be official now; three new markets plus two more teams changing stadiums and rebranding:

That Columbus team doesn't have a prayer. It's literally going to be suffocated attention-wise by THE Ohio State Buckeyes and the Crew.

Mike Repole isn't afraid to take a gamble. A prominent horse owner, he's spent millions on some of the top racehorses of the last 15 years, including winners of Triple Crown and Breeders' Cup races.

With the NHL and NBA seasons stretching into summer, and MLB starting in March, what is the pressing need for TV to push spring football on its viewers during those months? Would a revival of the Wide World of Sports (and CBS Sports Spectacular) anthology format attract more viewers and ad dollars, or is that a non-starter because Madison Avenue would think that only old people would want to watch?

The UFL would count as agony of defeat.

CBS Sports Spectacular is still on the air:

The fewer empty seats will help the TV a little. If the seats are mostly full, then you get the perception that someone cares so you should watch. I look for the gambling websites to figure out a way to keep this going simply for something for the football betters to bet on.

Nobody is tuning in to see the seats. They can dress this league up all they want. It’s a failure.

They're not competing directly against Buckeyes football. And plenty of markets have franchises in different sports competing against each other. I think Columbus, long neglected by the major sports leagues (aside from MLS and NHL) would welcome a new team that's not connected to either Cleveland or Cincinnati.

When there is a high punt usually the stands are in the background. Empty seats look bad. Kinda like last year's December Jets and New England home games.

Visual TV looks count more than what is going on in the statium. IIRC a lot of the NFL teams receive more money from TV than from attendance unless they have a "deal" on their stadium. If the league can get decent TV ratings it will not go away no matter what the attendance.

Remember the "cardboard" fans during COVID? A lot of folks still watched.

No love for the Dayton Dragons or Toledo Mud Hens?
