"Ugly Betty" on ABC

After watching the first episode tonight(September 28th), I have to say I'm impressed and I look forward to seeing more shows.

I would have to agree for the most part. I wish however, that it would be on after Grey's Anatomy and Six Degrees would be on before Grey's Anatomy so I won't have to flip between Ugly Betty's martiarch "La Fea Mas Bella" on Univision.

I read some favorable reviews and wanted to see how it compared to the crap on MyNetworkTV, since it is also based on a telenovela. It was actually not bad and has much more of a chance than Rupert's garbage.

You got a point there. The debut episode won its timeslot last night (September 28th) with 16 million viewers tuning in. I get the feeling that Thursday night will get more interesting thanks in part to that young lady in the "Guadalajara" poncho.

I watched Ugly Betty by way of abc.com ( I had to work at the time) and I must say, Selma Hayek and Co. did a masterful job in putting this South American import to North American TV. I'm glad that it won its time slot. America Ferrera is fantastic in the title role and I believe the future is indeed is bright for ABC's Thursday schedule.

Unlike the My shows, Ugly Betty has a cast of talented actors, some decent writng, and actual production values. Hell, America Ferrera has more talent as an actor as all of the actors on Desire and Fashion House combined and multiplied by a factor of ten.

Just watched it back on DVR. Great casting, especially Gina Gershon as the "Donatella Versace" type.

I havn't watched it yet. Its sitting in my PVR. I look forward to watching it soon.
Thanks for the heads up. Sounds like its a good thing I recorded it.
If I REALLY like the show, I won't fast forward through the ads.
How's that for a deal? ;D ;)
Thanks in advance ABC for giving me a reason (outside of sports, respectfully) for wanting to watch your station.

Not only that, "Ugly Betty" is the season's highest-rated new show so far...
and without benefit of a strong lead-in such as "Brothers & Sisters" gets
from "Desperate Housewives." It was, in fact, the highest-rated episode
of a scripted series for ABC on Thursday since an episode of "Matlock" in
1995. With the overall number-one show, "Grey's Anatomy," ABC appears
to have become a player on Thursday for the first time in about 25 years.

Same here. I really enjoy the show.

And I must say that I cant remember the last time I watched so many good new shows in a season.

Studio 60
Shark
30 Rock
6 Degrees
Til Death

and more that I'm forgetting.

Ugly Betty--sounds like a good name for a race horse. "And it's Ugly Betty by a nose going into the club house turn." Track announcers would love it. Sounds as if the audience is doing the same.

Unfortunately, several of those aren't likely long for this world. Studio 60 is teetering, 6 Degrees has about six viewers, and Til Death is counting the moments until death.

To the list of good new shows, I'd add Jericho...I was surprised at how engorssed in it I became after stumbling on a repeat of the premiere.
