UH-OH..Dave begins to tinker with paid programming

Heard a DAVE promo for a Saturday morning auto show 8a-10a beginning soon. Probably just a way to bump weekend revenue...or, worse, maybe its the first salvo toward DAVE going talk.

In fairness, it looks like a CBS product airing on CBS stations, including V103.

And you have a problem with that?? Turning down a chance to make extra revenue on the weekend would be like getting rid of long standing hosts like Gene Hensler and John Adams. These are the kind of things that could cost a market manager his job. [EDIT] never mind

[EDIT-namecalling and inflammatory]

It's Autoscoop!

Autoscoop is a syndicated show that broadcasts out of the WAOK studio. Up until two weeks ago, only V-103 carried it locally. Now Dave does as well.

It's also video taped in-studio, and broadcast on local TV later in the same day.

Have you heard the show? It's not bad at all. Adam Goldfien is the Clark Howard of car buying.

Yes and no. Lest anyone think otherwise, Autoscoop is designed to generate revenue. There's no consumer advocacy going on.

Autoscoop is designed for one thing and one thing only.... getting dealerships on the air and their ad revenue into the station. It has LITTLE OR NOTHING to do with helping the consumer

Yep. Airs at Noon on CBS-owned WUPA (CW Atlanta).

Autoscoop is aired in other markets on CBS stations (mainly their Free FM's). I think all of them are localized. Atlanta is the only one with the TV component.

And no, it is not paid programming (although car dealers may be paying them for positive mentions).

I suspect the V103 broadcast is being dropped. Dave is more demographically targeted for this show than V103.

I cited the comparison of Adam Goldfien to Clark Howard in terms of knowledge of the topic....not necessarily consumer advocacy.

People call in, ask questions, and are given answers. Even though it's not consumer advocacy, it's still helping consumers....just in an informative way. That's all I was saying. ;D
