Uh-Oh. More problems at the JoLT!

Word is that the FCC paid a surprise visit to the Jolt today, and it wasn't to compliment them for doing a good job of fulfilling the obligations of their license. In fact, no less than two inspectors with gleaming gold badges walked in. I've never seen where more than one shows up, so that kind've indicates some critical suspected problems. Don't know what they were looking for, but it was probably more than a cursory peek at the public file...maybe even transmitter/antennae operating parameters as well. The station is such an embarrassment to Tucson broadcasting! Word the wise: the FCC is obviously in town, so who knows where else they might visit. It's a good time to make sure the ol' public file is in order...especially the political file!!

JUST SO YOU ALL ARE WELL INFORMED.............APPARENTLY THE FCC DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE JOLT'S FILES OR TRANSMITTERS! THEY WERE REPORTED BY A DISGRUNTLED RECENT EX EMPLOYEE (GO FIGURE), WHO MADE IT SOUND LIKE THEY WERE IN VIOLATION IN MANY AREAS,THEY SENT 2 REPS. THE JOLT IS ON THE WAY BACK UP TO A STANDARD TUCSON DEMANDS AND APPRECIATES IN AM RADIO. LESS THE MANAGEMENT, OR SHOULD I SAY LACK OF, THEY ARE THRIVING AND DOING WELL UNDER NEW DIRECTION!! STAY TUNED! ;D

Hey RPDept, Please keep us informed. Even though the immediate past management was very instrumental in nose diving the station, I know the existing cast members, including Aldona and Alia, will continue to show Tucson what a small group of [EDIT] people can do. BTW say Hi to [EDIT] Fred[EDIT=*derogatory comments]

Nose dive? The 12+ numbers have gone down some, but the ranking's about where it has been for years. Looks like as level a flight as you'll likely get from a station with the worst AM signal in town.

Last time I checked the responsibility of overseeing the FCC/Public files, transmitter issues and all internal issues is the GENERAL MANGERS job! Go figure. How pathetic. It is so apparent who is posting these blogs that surely proves one thing, you need a life!

Don't know who you are, RP, and don't really care, but your intentions seem pretty transparent. Please take your anger and accusations somewhere else befoe you get into trouble, and leave this site for real radio people to discuss real radio issues. Nobody really cares about kjll anyway. Just go away. We don't need your bile.

If nobody cares, why are YOU here posting? Yes, I guess you would see the truth as bile. I am merely an onlooker who thinks the Jolt has something good to offer. Especially now that the poor management is not an issue. Call it what you want, I call it justice.

Hey, RP, I don't care what the truth is. This ain't the place for your crap or your obvious agenda. Leave it!

I haven to agree with RPDept, if the GM was doing their job, the FCC wouldn't have HAD to make a visit to KJLL. How can you blame the owner when she HIRED and paid handsomely a GM she trusted to do right by the station. From what I have heard he/she took 2 hour breakfast breaks, 3 hour lunches and tried to do his job in just an hour or so per day? How is THAT possible? It ISN"T. The GM was responsible for the poor judgement in programming changes, Bring back IMUS! The GM let the station almost fall, however, since KJLL let him go, they were ready and prepared for the FCC, DOL, and anyone else that may come knocking at the door. He made life hell for the good people of that station. In addition to that, how can a sales manager BE a sales manager if he can't or won't sell? Don't you have to have a sales team to manage? In this country stealing is highly illegal, on any level. You can call this what you like, hidden agenda, bile, doesn't really matter, if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, well.................. ??? I see good things in store for those that deserve it.

AmPmDrive and RPDept bring up a very important point to the "as the dial turns" melodrama at the JOLT. It is sole responsibility of the general manager to perform all of his/her duties to uphold the radio station. It is unfortunate, that the previous gm's (not including the past gm) misappropriated KJLL' s resources for personal use. As the old saying goes "three strikes and your out," and I'm not referring to KJLL as a radio station...I'm referring to bad management. I fell KJLL's diversified program line-up will pull the JOLT out of any malicious and vindictive threats coming their way. KJLL is strong and one of the few stand alone radio stations in America. If KJLL can compete with such large media conglomerates as Clear Channel..KJLL will survive and come out stronger than ever before!!!
