Uh Oh Radio Stunting on 105.1

Not sure when it started (I never listen to 105.1...although I do listen to the competition) but Uh Oh's 105.1 (formerly ESPN Radio) is stunting by looping "Changes in Latitudes" by Jimmy Buffet...maybe we will know on Monday what format they will try this time.

that's gotta be a record for short term formats...must have bounced their check to ESPN.
WNFN in Nashville is another example of a disaster, ratings-wise and obviously financially of
this limited-interest sports con-cept. At least Double Oh-No had the footballs to cut the
lose in the third inning.

Rob, you a sports fan?

Tibbs......thanks for the support of the NFLA board ;)

at first i thought it was another station coming in on tropo with the cold front coming...nope.

my guess it will be a wave 102.1 jack fm format judging by what's being played.
98.1 sucks...sorry but sportz on FM?!

the songs being played are dear mama (2 pac) unknown and jimmy buffet's changes in lat/att
(with the son of a bitch unedited)

yes, i am a sports fan but it's not the same on radio. i haven't looked at 98.1's ratings but what a crappy station!

BACK in ...the day... all I can say rob is "98one rocked." It's a shame that this fiasco has gone on.
Why any legal agency has allowed such a mess to continue unabated is a shock. One day, all
will be well on that frequency. Someone, I think WAAZ's Jimmy Whitaker hold me "Tibbs (name
changed to protect the uninnocent) -- that's a baby that shouldn't have ever been born." Truer
words have never been spoken.

I love sports, and have to admit Braves baseball on radio rocks. But to use FM for sports is illogical to
me. True there are are some respectably rated stations, but it's a niche that's picky, seasonal
and most people don't have time to listen long enough to finish hearing the topic discussed.

One day, maybe soon, 98.1 will rise again from the ashes.

ok.. here's what im hearing now
classical music mixed in to the normal three songs.

let's all guess the format...

-rob

..and looking at the site i'd say most of them are daytimers (correct me if im wrong)

our talker is 5KW/250 (barely usable unless renting an $800 a month apartment on Denton BLVD in FWB)
as I stated before, this area needs a non directional 10KW or 25KW station that covers PCB to PEN

if 98.1 becomes a C2C affiliate, i'd drop dead.
(if the great 98 returns, i wonder if they will cary the premiere goddess? since she doesn't have a FWB aff)

-Rob

Nope, 2 FM, 1 AM. The only daytimers around Panama City are Blounstown, and the non commercial on Panama City Beach.

well im sure monday morning will tell the tail (probably a country format)

-Rob

since Double O already has a country station on 103.5, and 92.5 is also a country station in the market, it would be a very stupid, stupid, stupid decision.

agreed. im hearing a tad of oldies mixed in..
oldies 105.1 perhaps?

our local area has
country 105.5
WAAZ
cat 98.7 (not to be confused with yer cat 103.5)
WXBM (I think) 102.7 (forgot that)
and 95KSJ

think that's overkill?
(note: i can only hear this on tropo out here in the "alabama" market (since the majority of our TV comes from mobile with one exception yet I can hear 13's audio (WMBB) almost every day on my other portable)

-Rob

They should stay on smooth jazz 105.1 for the smooth jazz fans in Panama City that like smooth jazz before they dig in and put an short term ESPN Radio. I know 106.3 The Seabreeze don't reach the Panama City area. Now I don't live in Panama City but I do have family there. I live in Crawfordville but I do pick up Panama City Radio Stations. I can think(my guess) that 105.1 can be a JACK-FM as u guys saying u hearing loops of Jimmy Buffet and other songs or something. Here in Tallahassee we have a Hot A/C Hybrid 99.9 HANK-FM it's kind of like JACK-FM they play anything. I know there B-95.1 over there but that station I hread when I was in Panama City is more between 98.5 and 100.1 FM. Does B-95.1 ever reach Panama City they comes in very good when I was on 231 and highway 20 about 25 miles north of Panama City. Well good luck on 105.1 guys.

Louis -- you and rob should get together and compare notes. I hear Charlie looking for an intern to do electrical
work this summer (but no changing of strobies) .... call me if either of you want to apply. I think you're on to
some possible format change for 105.1. Rob, good eye, it's double 00000-no...they might pick a Country format.
My guess is oldies like True Oldies something where no human has to ever get a penny of pay. That's the format
of the month. Jack-types and AA are sort of scaring people. Jazz should have made them $$$. You have to love
a class-act company like zero-zero for ripping of Mark Carters' rights to Jones Jazz and then using
Christmas ID's for a couple of years. Dedication for sure.

105.1 is located at the Laurie Avenue Interference Emporium at somewhere around 300 ft above ground...I'm sure Rob could go to the nifty LPFM website he uses for reference and tell us all the exact height....it is LICENSED for 50KW....meaning I don't know if the transmitter is up to par to make that power.....haven't seen that transmitter in about 12 years.

It would be nice to have an oldies station again in PC...

Oh, Tibbs...those jobs include working with lethal high voltage ;)

I drove down I-10 today and stumbled across WASJ playing some classic country tune. Then they played an oldie rock track (can't remember the name), next up was Janis Joplin, Pavarotti, and then Jimmy Buffet. At this point I hadn't figured out they were stunting, I was just enjoying the music for a change... Then they played Martin Boogie which sent up a the biggest red flag I've ever seen in a radio station stunt. When was the last time any station played that song? When I heard Tupac and the 10 song loop started over again I figured it all out. If this wasn't a stunt it would have been an awesome twist on a "Jack" format.

Tropo was good today. WASJ was pretty clear all the way to Tallahassee and up into Georgia.

that's more then an LPFM site..
if you type in your area it will show ALL stations assigned to the city.

don't know how long the stunting will go on till..

23:42 still playing same old crap..with some new songs mixed in
(like the compression there using)
