Uh Oh Radio Stunting on 105.1

it makes me wonder if the PD/GM of that station is reading these forums.
with tropo gone all im getting is static on 105.1

All PD's and GM's read these boards. They'll never admit though, they just hide and snicker.

re: <the songs have a hidden message that says "drink more ovaltine">

THAT was funny, i spit diet coke out of my nose, but it's ok - i was looking for a reason to get a new keyboard.

<here's led zepplin.. i didn't know that hootie was in the group!>

you didn't know that? hootie actually started with Badfinger, then moved to Led Zipperland to make sure that "Stairway to Heaven" got proper respect...quite the artiste, that Hoot...i hear he's running for a judge position (that's a Panama City joke, everyone else just scratch your head and move on...). as a former live and vt'er myself, i've heard worse... it happens, but you know that.

personally, i'm intrigued by mix (Bob Seger into funk? - go Bob!...wait, this is starting to sound like an Enzyte commercial...Bob's feeling bigger!), but the guy who is on as of 9:40 a.m. (NOT making an accusation) reminded me of old times...i used to work at an AM Christian station (this is 20+ years ago, and no, i'm no major veteran, just love radio) directly across the window from a major FM station, and the guy on the other side would get high on a VERY regular basis...what was funny (now, not then), was he got cracked up distracting me. remember, we actually put carts and cd's in back then...

...so, my PD (i was like...17 or so, then, and didn't even know what a PD was...hell, i never actually MET the guy, but...) so, he got me confuseled one Sat. morning, and i announced a song as being by "Terri Garr." WHOOPS. and the phone didn't just light up, it jumped up in anger, and the PD of this Christian station (i DO consider faith important, just for the record) ripped me apart like i was an extra in one of those eighties' war movies... dude, rough! but i do miss the stuff from time to time, who doesn't? there you go, there you are, there you have it.

BOB! if you're going to play ANYthing, a little E!, Everything But the Girl, Echo and the Bunnymen (am i stuck on a letter?), Bodeans, Bjorn, Lightnighg Seeds, Aimee Mann...a little lite alt would be refreshing around here, to say the least...

btw! i asked my wife if she was interested in some "bob f'n," and she smacked me upside the head...probably not the first time i've deserved that, though...oh well.

now i'll be quiet and wait for people to just kill me for my artist selections.

peace out.

we did a parody of that enzyte commercial on our network as an network ID. (the one with "meet bob")

(our group has a lot of talent and some of the jocks used to be on FM)

-Rob

Hey Rob, do you have a sound bit or link for that? Sounds funny.......

hey, i'd be interested in hearing that, as well. Rob, you've taken some occasional flack, but you sound like an interesting guy. email or post that link, if you get the notion.

wow, bob just played "Undone" by D.Duran - dude, haven't heard that in forever. it's hit or miss, it's definitely not boring. hate the deathknell of local influences, but i hope it works out for them. my brother is ticked that ESPN's gone - sports junkie.

anyway, work to do, moving on. Rob, the link?

It's not for public release.
(no shows are on tonight as people are headed home from the dayton hamvention radio convention)

Your best bet is tune in on tuesday at around 9:00 florida time (10 east)
pending he does a show (see url below)

I'll ask him to dcc it to me and upload it. and see if i can get permission.

That's a song that's perfect for the beach, but it's been to the rapid fire list of most Jack-FM's for yrs.

Funny... do you remember who the actual artist was that you talked up as "Teri Garr"?

no i don't at all, and i wish i do, because it would make the story better...but it's true!

i'm just past 40, it was 6:00 ish in the a.m. back then, when i was somewhere around 17, (do you remember when radio actually had to sign on and sign off?) and that particular brain cell took the leap of the lemmings a LONG time ago, but i remember the experience. i do remember it was a great song, and despite my irrelevance/irreverance, still think there's a cool place for Christian music on the radio today. i had this conversation with a good long-time friend (who happens to be a phenomenal musician and a pastor, to boot) yesterday - we talked about who was the most "uplifting" artists today without getting in someone's face, and he said Simply Red and who ever wrote "Somewhere Only Where We Know," (not bad, but i'm drawing a blank on that artist), and i said The Jayhawks and Sixpence None the Richer, to which he replied, "you win."

at least you got the Terri Garr reference, so guess what, you win! (i didn't think anyone outside of radio would remember her...lately i've BEEN "Mr. Mom." yikes!).

it's all good...

:)

be well, be blessed, and Rob, thanks for responding, as well.

Funny, but they give ESPN a go for about 2 weeks.

Then they go away.

Yet no one gives us any credit for rolling up on 10 years in February. Odd how we can get it SO wrong, yet Capstar, AM/FM, Clear Channel and now Star can keep going in the market.

I also noticed that all the cheap shots at the station have disappeard, funny that.

...also funny that Gerald and Bruce are getting all the contract work this side of Georgianna. Wonder how that happened.

I'd really love to hear from more people who couldn't be compelling for 4 minutes an hour about how my 40 minutes have 3 minutes that aren't worth listening to. Don't stop sniping because I'm here, makes me much more productive at work.
