Station is plagued with engineering issues and listening on air, it is run on a shoestring budget. Something I know he would not have wanted or condoned, aka, beyond his control.

But you have to wonder why the guy gets fired so often? I've seen that name in the trades for years, mostly (frequently) getting canned in a fairly short time.

Define "frequently." As I recall, the last time Chris was let go was after an ownership change at WDJX in Louisville KY...10 YEARS AGO! Unless you count Energy in Chicago, but EVERYONE was let go there. We didn't speak Spanish!
Remember - just because someone leaves, it doesn't mean they were fired! If you look at my resume, you'd think I was canned in every market on the planet. I probably SHOULD have been...but the truth is, I usually left on my own accord to move to bigger and better things. I think the ratio of my quittings to firings is like 7:1. But, don't quote me on that ;-)

Spending 5 years in Chicago til 2003 (company folded), then off to Raleigh to take on CC's cluster and take their CHR literaly worst to first within a year (left on his own accord), off to Sunny Florida to work for a smaller company at a then Top rated HOT AC. Again, left on his accord when he was offered the gig at KNGY.
So my point is, 7 years listed, not fired once, you think he might be in the trades a lot because he is a programmer in demand? Anyone that knows anything about Chris Shebel, he is one of the few that still believes in the medium, he believs in his airstaff and programming the right way.

All the good ones now a days follow that path. It's sad, really. There was a time when the good ones could stay in one place for as long as they'd want (city-wise), but now with youngsters willing to work for $8 an hour the good ones are usually forced out (willingly or unwillingly) over money or the endless amount of extra work companies like to pack on to the good ones because we've been there and done that. Ahhh, the stick gets rammed up a bit further. I think it's time to start looking again.

People post untrue things on here not knowing any better, some post to get a rise out of people, others repeating something they "heard" elsewhere without verification, or just running their mouth off on a "mission" when they do not like someone.
I have no association with Chris. But highest praises for him, as he can program anything and make it work. He believes in his airstaff, backs them up and allows them creative freedom. Definetily NOT a "Yes sir/maam man." When he does not agree with the brass, he makes it known. And finally he is a WLS-AM alumn. Can't beat that.
But whatever the reason the person posted that about him, we will prob never know, I and others here, stepped in to make the truth known.

PDPete! You've MELLOWED over the years! I remember a thread on the old crowbar site from early '99 lambasting me in a looooooooong tirade. I still have that post printed and framed somewhere!!! Ahh, the good ole days ;-)
