Majic 937 plays the same yule tune as WYCL-FM in Pensacola does. And i Have researched accoring to yes.com other christmas stations that I know are Clear Channel, they are doing the same thing......playing the same song at the same hour. I ask myself...............................

What are you guys doing Clear Channel?

what are their call letters? sounds like a great syncing job they are doing.

Magic 93.7 is in Biloxi. It overlaps with WYCL 107.3 in Mobile county and Jackson county (MS). Look it up.
CW posted on the Tallahassee Christmas thread that the Clear Channel stations are not in sync but they all have the same database of Christmas songs to draw from. Coincidence? or are Pensacola and Biloxi both being secretly run out of the Mobile office?

I didn't know what your QTH was, there are two 93.7s active here, Deliaha Affi and kicking country WRJM.
(depending on tropo conditions)

http://www.yes.com/#WYCL is the PENSACOLA one, no listings for the 93.7. Humm, don't know if SUNNY is listed?? (98.5 out of panama)

Looks like there playing band aid, i got a nice vinyl copy of that song, all 7 minutes worth, love that tune.
(wish it was flac not mp3)

According to Wikipedia, QTH is a code for location. I don't know where Alex is either, but there's only one Clear Channel owned Magic 93.7 station that can be heard over the air in the same location as WYCL 107.3.

Back when 107.3 was New Rock One Zero Seven they had a surprisingly large number of listeners in the Biloxi/Gulfport area. They even had advertisements for local stores in that market. It's amazing that people would listen to a station two markets away just for good music. I assume they still have a good signal over there.

Ahh, the good ol' days... when it was the music that mattered. Kinda like it was in the 80's when we would listen to WPFM 100 miles away in Pensacola, south Alabama, and south Georgia, just to hear the hype on what was going on in Panama City during Spring Break.

Interesting, since there's a Class A on 107.1 in Gulfport. You really can't hear 107.3 clearly until you're in Gautier (central Jackson Co.) 107.3 isn't listenable in either Biloxi or Gulfport.

WABB *does* put a strong signal over the entire market. When I lived there (2004-2005), they ID as "Mobile-Pensacola-Biloxi-Fort Walton" and made a good showing in the book. Not sure how they're doing these days since only subscribers are now listed in that market and Dittman didn't buy it.

You've got something there. I can clearly remember listening to the station with friends living in Gautier and Ocean Springs, but I have no memory of listening in Biloxi or Gulfport. No signal issues whatsoever. I know that I could listen to the station for the whole drive down I-10 to and from the Ocean Springs/Biloxi exit. I also remember a record store or music store in Gautier sponsored one of the weekend specialty shows on 1zero7.

Yeah, I sold him that schedule on New Rock about 13 years ago. He (the guy who owned the store) called in one day all thrilled to hear alternative rock on his radio, so--rather than waste an AE's time--I drove the hundred miles-or-so to sell him a schedule as sponsor of "Out of Order" or "Dr. Dimento" or one of them. (Okay, I was just looking for an excuse to go to the casinos and donate a few hundred bucks to the Mississippi Mafia). Still, it's funny to be reading through the postings and see a reference to a radio sale I made back when the internet was in diapers...

BTW, that little Class A on 107.1 in Gulfport was on the air back then, too--so, no, 107.3 never racked up any numbers in Biloxi-Gulfport-Pascagoula. And FWIW, WABB was just knocking down a share or two over there, despite their multi-city ID. WBLX, on the other hand, was hitting in the 4 or 5 range back then--and I guess they still take a couple of shares.

Glad I could make your day Redneck.

Lots of people had the same reaction that guy in Gautier had. I was hanging out at the Sound Box in Pensacola with a couple friends (including Eric Jones, an ex TK DJ that may have worked at 1zero7 at some time) and a mortician we knew (I forgot his name) called and told the girl behind the counter (Michelle something) that Woww 107 just went Alternative. She immediately turned off the record player and turned on the radio. After the Radio 123 experience, none of us expected to hear Alternative in Pensacola again. We were amazed. About 30 minutes later Troy Moon (Pensacola News Journal) called the store to give the same news.

Was there a DJ at 1Zero7 named Robin Rowin?

Uh, let's see--there was Suzy Boe... LaLaine... Joel Sampson... Steve Williams... Special Ed...

We may need to consult MoonShadow over in St. Augustine. She's younger and probably still has a functional brain. I'm getting too old--alzheimer's setting in!
