UHF late signons

(it won't let me post this as a reply, it keeps insisting I've already posted)

I'm fairly positive that WVTV/18 and WCGV/24 Milwaukee did the same, although WVTV went to an earlier morning sign-on in the mid-to-late '70s when it was also microwaved to

I grew up in the 1970s in MIlwaukee and recall the same about WVTV - a signon certainly after noon and possibly as late as 2:00. WCGV didn't sign on until 1980 and I don't recall any particularly late signons, but I was off to college in Madison by then & didn't pay much attention to channel 24.

WVCY/30 *still* doesn't sign on until 9am at the earliest, possibly later.

I recall one day in 1974 getting home from school & being surprised to see WMVT/36 on the air. They usually weren't on until dinnertime. Turns out they were carrying the Watergate hearings. Once Nixon was gone, so was daytime programming on channel 36, at least for a few years.

We didn't get KFIZ-TV in Menomonee Falls. (not that I didn't try, but the attic antenna was fixed due east)
