I was listening to 98.7Kiss FM around 1 a.m. and all of asudden their signal went out. What I hear in its place is a country station. Also, I switched over to 107.7 and I hear 94.5 WYSF in its place. It is funny as hell that both of Birmingham's Urban ACs go off air around the same time. If I didn't know any better I think those 2 stations share the "megatower" on Red Mountain.
______________

Sounds like you may have experienced DX. The country station could've been WISK out of Americus, GA. There's an AC on 107.7 in the Albany market as well, but I don't think it's a soft one.

If you actually heard 107.7 ID as WYSF, that's interesting, and probably some form of computer boo-boo.

Tower maintenance seems to be the most likely explanation for 98.7 dropping, though. I don't suppose you tried the stream to see if it was working, did you?

You're right about the DXing. I also believe that 107.7 was probably doing maintanence in preparation of moving from their tower in North Jefferson to Red Mountain's "megatower", so the maintenance probably affected 98.7 KissFM indivertibly.
______________
