Unbelievable DX'ing

Did any of you catch the great DX-ing this weekend? Yesterday, throughout much of Clearwater, several New Orleans and Houston-area radio stations came in loud and clear. On 93.7 FM, Houston's Arrow was nearly crystal clear for much of the afternoon. In addition, near Sand Key, New Orleans' Q-93 obliterated WFLZ a couple of times. On Saturday, I also picked up Sun 103.1, out of the Keys.

Anyone else catch anything good?

I was driving near Sarasota Monday and picked up a country station from the Keys.

Yes! I was driving to Brandon around noon on Sunday and had The Arrow (what a killer female jock on the air then, BTW) and several other Houston and south Louisiana stations. First sign was hearing about upcoing The Who and Chili Peppers shows, so I knew I wasn't "in Florida" any more.

probably was WCTH 100.3 out of key largo, they rated at 100,000 watts with 450 foot tower. must have been a hell of a dx reach in tampa since their tower is so small, they done even reach north miami!

I picked up 94.5 the Buzz, KILT 100.3,Mega 101, and Magic 101.9 in Houston. When I tuned into 101.9, I thought 102 Jamz in Orlando changed formats. I also picked up 104.1 in New Orleans (I believe) I picked up that station here about two years ago. Today, some stations in Tallahassee are coming in here. And last night, 98.7 the Gator in West Palm Beach obliterated Wild 98.7, which it sometimes does on occasions.

From experience, the best thing I have done is get my Walkman and head onto the beach. On Sunday, I noticed Houston's 93.7 coming in on my car radio, so I got out near Pier 60 in Clearwater. From the beach, on the 93.3 frequency, when facing the water, I picked up Q-93 in New Orleans. When I turned around and faced the land, WFLZ came blaring back in. The salt water really does remarkable things....

Amazing that you picked up The Gater. West Palm is my home market, and I couldn't pick up ANYTHING from the east this weekend. The only exception was Sun 103.1, out of Plantation Key. Even 93.7 K-Country/Ocala, which is usually audible from much of the Tampa area, would not come in.

I was actually driving from the Tampa Bay area heading north on Saturday night and I was able to listen to Q105 all the way up past Valdosta, Georgia! The signal was pretty much continuous except in Ocala where they have that low power station on 104.7 for some odd reason.

Tuesday night, I was picking up 99.9 from Tally like a local in St Pete. Wednesday morning, the radio was still on 99.9 and picking up 99.9 from Jax.
