Hello Again, Everyone:
....it is with Heavy Heart that I let everyone know that Tucson Radio Veteran Walt Query Passed away yesterday afternoon in hospice in Mesa where he was receiving treatment. Details of his death are as of this writing are unknown. I'll be speaking with Aunt Tina (his wife) later today regarding funeral services. Walt was Very Much known in Tucson & Southern Arizona for his radio work & One of the last of the "Original" DJ's of radio station KTUC (he always told me "where the skeletons were hid" at the old station location @ 16th. & Cherry). Like many from the "old days", I first heard Uncle Walt (aka: Ron Jacobs) on the airwaves as one of the voice announcers for KVOA Ch. 4, and like many who stayed up "past bed time", was the "sign-off" voice when CH. 4 went off the air. That's how I got to know of Walt & ...later on in years, I got to work with him at KTUC for a couple of years. If you knew Uncle Walt, Please keep him in your thoughts & prayers today. Like many of my contemporaries & mentors from my years passed in Tucson Radio Broadcasting, I shall miss him Greatly! Rest In Peace, Uncle Walt! :'(
