Uncle Zeb

Carl Batholomew (Uncle Zeb) passed away yesterday at age 77 from complications from Myelodysplasia. He first went to work at KTUL-TV in 1968 and had "Uncle Zeb's Cartoon Camp" from 1969 yo 1979. Another chapter in Oklahoma's broadcast history has passed away.

Sad to hear about his death. A real Tulsa TV legend.. My brother and I used to watch his show every afternoon in the seventies.

I interviewed Carl about a year and a half ago. We talked about Uncle Zeb, including the games like "Hit The Deck" and the "Luther farted" episode.

Carl was responsible for the "8's the Place" promos. Some of the best branding ever seen in this part of the country.

Sad to hear about Carl. He was indeed a very talented man who contributed in many ways to KTUL's success over the years. Both John Chick and Carl are now gone. Not too many from that generation left.

Very sad... Carl's hard work and promotional genius continues to keep 8 in great ratings ranking to this day IMHO. Very sad to hear of his passing. I was on his show as a kid back in the day...
