Uncomfortable moment for Rock 92/Chris and Chris

On this (Thurs. 9/13) am's edition of 2 Guys named Chris, they had Greensboro mayor Keith Holliday on and he said the following

K: Yeah, I've been listening to this station a long time. All the way back when Brad Krantz worked here.

(crickets; long uncomfortable pause)

Chris Kelly: Yeah, well anyway...

The boys have obviously been instructed by management not to acknowledge Krantz, who was the morning guy at 92 from 87-97 and now works at 101. They must be pretty threatened by him. Pretty funny. I bet the producer got a good reaming after the show for not dumping that.

PS: Is the show still being syndicated to that godawful station in Wilmington? If so, why do they have the mayor of Greensboro on? Just wonderin'...

Maybe their "Yeah, well, anyway...." reply was supposed to change the subject from their morning show predecessors, not necessarily mean they are afraid of Brad Krantz or anything. just that they don't want to discuss their present competition.

Maybe Keith Holliday was rubbing it in that he remembers Krantz after all these years he's been done, despite 2GNC's daily presence in the morning chairs.

Maybe Skip Alston paid Holliday to say that to "stick it to The Man."

Who knows? Could be lots o' reasons. :D

Thanks for the heads-up on the hours they are syndicated and the hours they aren't. It's hard to keep track of it all.

I bet the board op still got their @$$ chewed by letting Krantz's name on the air...or when management read about it here (on this board). ;)

I doubt there is any corporate mandate not to acknowledge Brad. Chris and Chris was just unprepared and caught off guard. They should have said, "Wow, that was a back in the days of the dinosaurs. We didn’t think you were that old, Keith!" and moved on!

Good reply! Don't you just hate that you think of the wittiest things to say after the fact!

Isn't that the way it always happens? Learn to expect the unexpected!
