Unconfirmed Rumor: ARNN to Start Charging Affiliates a Monthly $900+ Fee?

One ARNN affiliate says ARNN is going to start charging over $900 per month for their content in February. Two ARNN affiliates say they haven't heard anything.

What do you think? Heard anything through the grapevine?

After talking to another two ARNN affiliates, I have been unable to confirm this rumor.

We were approached by them to carry their news programming but told them we had no interest in broadcasting left or right leaning news media programs.

There were two options offered : 1) barter or 2) pay

Can you tell me more about those options? What kind of barter? Were they demanding out-of-show inventory?

Hi FTL,

I believe they the agreement was that we would have to air a specific number of spots per day. I can't recall the number.

The news program airs pretty much all day long as I recall.

You should call them and negotiate with them. With these kind of agreements I feel nothing is etched in stone. If they want your business, you make the calls.

Most syndicated programming has a certain amount of flexibility and based on what I recall the salesperson at ARNN was eager to get on our stations.

Thanks Josh, but I'm the competition. I am looking to find out if the rumors I'd heard were true so I can market my show as an alternative - IF they were actually going to start charging stations, but I can't find any hard evidence that claim is true at this time.

It's most likely that they will continue to run the same agreement.

Barter (run spots) or pay a monthly fee.

You can still call them. They are very cordial at ARNN.
