uneven reception

I thought about putting this under "reception sucks" but its not a complaint.

I'm having a problem with reception at home at the same times each day. The signal level doesn't remain constant. Is there something I can do about this or do I need a new radio? Hope not.

If you antenna is indoors you need to know that the satellites are constantly moving, so you may get dropouts during the day. However, if you move your antenna outside with a clear view towards Minnesota or Manitoba Canada, you will get a good signal. The antenna needs to see the entire sky in the above mentioned direction, if it is indoors it cannot, unless you are nearby a repeater. My antenna is outside on my roof and I havent had a dropout in 4 years.

Thanx AZJoe. I'm in an apt, but I could mount the antenna on the balcony rail. That would improve things a bit.
