The University of Northern Iowa has turned in the license for student-run station KULT-LP 94.5, effective January 27. It will remain as an on-line station which launched on January 1.
I lived in Cedar Falls in the mid 1960s. My dad taught at what was then the State College of Iowa (It became UNI in 1967). Was this the successor to KYTC 970, first as a carrier-current station and later as a free-radiate Part 15? I remember doing a tour of the station with my classmates in 1966. It was very professional for a campus station.
KYTC stood for "Know Your Teachers College" (it's name prior to 1961 was Iowa State Teachers College). I guess times do change, and being online will be more beneficial than being on radio.
