Union at odds with Sinclair's WGME

Unfortunately Sinclair is known as a very right-wing, ultra-conservative ownership group. One of the corporate vice-presidents does editorials that all the Sinclair TV stations must run. The editorial always sounds like Rush Limbaugh could have written it. All conservative ideas are good, all liberal ideas are bad and anyone who disagrees is not being patriotic.

At my place of work, we had some temporary pay cuts during the worst months of last year. But the company worked with the union, and those pay cuts are starting to be restored.

How typical of a conservative corporation that it cuts off negotiations with the union and doesn't ask for ideas from the workers on how to structure the cuts and what timetable should be used to restore pay levels once ad revenue picks up again.

I think there's a special place in Hell for corporate executives who claim they are conservative Christians and patriots, yet shortchange their workforce at every turn.

Al Diamon takes note of the labor dispute here:

For the record, Mark Hyman's conservative "The Point" commentaries ended four years ago. Some vestiges of corporate influence remain - the occasional Jeff Birnbaum analysis and the Armstrong Williams show late Sunday nights spring to mind - but in any event WGME's local reporting has been largely objective, if a bit sensationalistic in approach at times.
