Unique E-Skip Opening Today

Did anyone happen to catch an outstanding e-skip opening today around noon? While in Narragansett, I caught two stations from Memphis. The stations were on 103.5 (103-5 Classic Soul) and 98.9 (98-9 KIM-FM). I have never caught a skip that has been on such a southwestern arc. Most south and east coastal Rhode Island FM e-skips that I have experienced have brought stations from the Midwest, such as Iowa.

I was listening to WPRO on 99.7 FM yesterday as I was going through Berkley into Dighton and I was getting some other station called The Wolf that was playing Amy Whinehouse. It came very clear near the bridge between the two communities. If you also listen to 99.7 through Dighton, when you get near the police station, the signal completely drops out to silence.

Did I miss something? When exactly did Amy Winehouse crossover to the country format? ???

I don't know of any 99.7 that goes by "The Wolf" moniker. In the UP of Michigan, there is a Hot AC station on 99.7 that goes by "The Storm." Such a station would play Amy Winehouse. Perhaps you had an opening from Michigan?

In the mid to late 80's when I used to work at Sand Hill Cove and Salty Brine beach, we would routinely get stations from all over the country in addition to WRX & RI 104, WPJB and WBLQ, Pro-FM and BRU. We had static problem picking up HJY; but then on the hazy days we'd find stations from Washington, Florida, St Louis, Detroit, etc coming in clear.....

It could have been. I was probably more taken back that I was actually hearing Rehab on 99.7 and some woman introing it. If I hear it again, I'll post about it.
