Universal Sports Network coming to Houston

We have had Universal Sports here in DFW for a while now on 5.3.

It is mostly winter sports, skiing with an occasional bobsled event thrown in. If you are into either of those things then this is the channel for you. Kinda like the very early days of ESPN.

What I've seen of it so far, it's usually reruns from winter olympics, with a few infomercials. I've never watched it more than a minute or two at a time.

Too late to edit my last post, but I just now turned on the Universal Sports Network on KXAS 5.3 and they are running "RT - Russia Today" news. First time I've seen that.

For some reason, "Russia Today" was an error -- according to the New England forum, Hartford's WVIT (another O&O) also carried Russia Today, but later reverted to Universal Sports.

Maybe some kind of error at NBC?

I saw the universal sports channel when i was in dallas. i think its kinda strange that an NBC owned station is coming on a CW affiliate. Forgive me if this is stupid, but isn't this channel supposed to be on one of channel 2's digital channels since that channel is an NBC affiliate??

I was thinking the same thing too, you would think that crosstown KPRC would pick Universal Sports since that's owned by NBC and aired on the NBC O & O sub channels instead of airing This TV.

Uh, KPRC isn't owned by NBC, it's owned by Post-Newsweek.

Too bad, it was interesting. Spent more time watching RT that morning than all the other time combined watching the regular programming! (Not much into re-runs of past sports events.)

I think X-Man was saying that Universal Sports is owned by NBC.

Russia Today has a webstream, if you want to see more of it: http://www.russiatoday.ru/On_Air.html
