KCOR-1350?

Doesn't Univision Radio already have AM talk stations languishing in the ratings in most of these markets? This sounds like rebranding.

Yes, KCOR 1350 is going to be the station in San Antonio for Univision America.

Isn't KCOR doing some sort of Spanish talk programming already?

I read that Chicago's Univision talker laid off FIVE local hosts to make room for Univision America. That does not bode well for local shows.

But Fred Univision said in their statement "“Univision America reinforces our commitment to continue empowering the Hispanic community by offering listeners unparalleled access to local, national and international news and information.”

Surely they wouldn't cut local staffs would they? They must be planning on hiring more local folks ;D

It is a reformating and rebranding of Radio Cadena Univision which provided much of the programming of the AMs in SA, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Las Vegas, McAllen, El Paso, one of the AM's in Miami, and Los Angeles.

There isn't a Spanish Language AM with even a consistent 1 share 18-49 in any PPM measured Hispanic market that also has Spanish language FMs, so making AMs work is a difficult task... as we know, Mexico has essentially declared AM to be dead.

For those unaware... in Mexico, federal regulators assigned an FM channel to every AM station where practical. Now after a period of simulcasting, the AMs have begun signing off.
