Univision Changes E/I Lineup

Univision has changed it's E/I lineup

8AM Dora the Explorer
830AM Go Diego Go
9AM Pinky Dinky Doo
930AM Jaker's The Adventures of Piggley Winks
10AM Inspector Gadget's Field Trip
1030AM Beakman's World

All of course are dubbed en Espanol. Dora, Diego, and Pinky are all from Nick Jr/Noggin. Jaker's is from PBS. Inspector's Gadget's Field Trip/Beakman's World were previously distributed to stations in English by Tribune.

Interesting fact #1: Pinky Dinky Doo is left over from their previous E/I Line Up
Interesting fact #2: This E/I Lineup Features Beakman's World. The previous version featured Bill Nye.
Interesting fact #3: This whole E/I block is under the Planeta U Banner. Planeta U was the name of a Kids/Teen Block that previously aired on Univision.
Interesting fact #4: I believe Dora and Diego both used to air during Telemundo's E/I block before QUBO took over their E/I block.

Considering Univision's effort listed above, along with Ion/NBC/Telemundo's Qubo programming, I would say there is actually some decent competition in the Spanish language market for E/I programming. Hopefully, they'll eventually add a Spanish SAP to Qubo's 24/7 digital network. (And, with DTV, perhaps a French subchannel as well, given that much of the programming is dubbed into French?)

Only if the Canadian CRTC approves the channel for carriage on Canadian systems -- unlike Spanish, the francophone community is a much smaller minority in the US, mainly in New England and Louisiana.

While I am a francophile myself, unfortunately, my local digital cable system doesn't offer anything exotic other than the Spanish-language stuff -- not even TV5MONDE. I had a gray subscription to a Canadian satellite dish up until three years ago, but house remodelling ended it.

Let me clarify - I was actually suggesting a French SAP (audio only) channel to provide French audio of programming already on Qubo. I wasn't suggesting an entirely separate video service. That said, I agree that there wouldn't be much audience, outside of New England, Louisiana, and perhaps if Ion has any stations that offer cross-border coverage into Canada.

If Beakman's World is no longer in syndication, then Bill Nye should take its place on local channels. I liked his show a lot more as a kid, and I learned more from him then Beakman.

Beakmans World is still on local stations. Tribune's FOX 61 in Hartford runs is as well as FOX 5 the FOX O&O in NYC. I don't know who's distributing it now as Tribune got out of the syndication biz.
