Univision changes in DFW...coming to Houston?

Univision has registered RadioH2OHouston.com, though they've registered a domain for every one of their markets. So, I'm not sure it means anything's imminent.

If so who would they blow up? Univision has only one city grade signal and the rest are rimshots (IIRC). But if I had to bet... it would be 104.9. Or maybe 106.5.. with bilingual CHR it would kind of mimic the old KQQK (86-89)

The 93.3 signal is the only rimshot. 106.5 is a full Class C and is close enough to have a solid signal across the market, especially in heavily Hispanic areas of town. 102.9 and 104.9 are literally located next to downtown, so no issues there. Yes, 104.9 is a Class C2, but it covers the metro area with no problems.

You're absolutely correct. RadioH20SA.com was registered on 05/22/12.

Perhaps, Univision drank the same kool aid SBS is currently drinking, with it's roll out Top 40 formats catering to the Hispanic youth. IMO, it's not a bad strategy.

Recuerdo is bringing in more money then KLTN so it's not going anywhere.. KAMA has been in trouble for a while now and is not doing well in sales and i can see a change coming soon but 93.3 will stay the same because its only there to keep KLTN on top.

I live in Dallas, and this Radio H20 seems kinda strange for Univision..Playing Christina Perri, Train, Gotye, Carly Rae Jepsen, etc..Sounds like a full blown CHR to me

Sounds like the top 40 station they had in SA called Party 97-7.

Also, the top hour says, "The Music Network Connecting America". Perhaps, Univision plans on expanding this format to other cities.

Paging David Eduardo...Paging David Eduardo...your thoughts on this would be appreciated.

It would be inappropriate to comment on this.

Didn't I say that this might happen with the upgrade of KPTY, awhile back? Rest assured, if this comes to Houston it'll be on 104.9/105.3 to cover both Houston and the Triangle. It would be a mistake to place it on KQBU as the signal coming from Port Arthur can't compete with KKHH or KRBE. 104.9/105.3, however, would give Hot and KRBE a heck of a fight.

The iron is hot. Univision should strike now. KRBE is about to become a stand alone, Cumulus may end up pulling out of the market and thus KRBE is ripe for the picking. 95-7 would certainly lose a portion of their listenership from an H20 launch as well.

I think if Univision does this it will be a nail in KRBE's coffin.

Let them call the station The Beat, it would really make KRBE mad :D
