Univision HD2 channels in SA

What exactly is the point in this?

KGSX HD2 rebroadcasts KGSX HD1 and 95.1 FM.
KBBT HD2 rebroadcasts KBBT HD1 and 98.5 FM.
KXTN HD2... I don't think it's turned on.

But mainly I'm curious what Univision is trying to accomplish. Are they waiting for some of the silent translators in San Antonio who are looking for primary stations to transmit to contact them and ask to use their HD signals? Or are they just too bored with it to program separate formats on the HD channels?

It costs money to broadcast different programs. There are music licensing fees and such. And practically no one has an HD radio. And if they're like me, the ones that do use it to listen to analog FM or their HD1 counterparts. In other words, there's no money in Hybrid Digital subchannels.

I'd just turn off the separate HD2 feeds then and save some power. :p
