Univision to 66, UniMas to 27?

For some reason on December 4th Univision and UniMas are swapping channel positions. 66 will be Univision. 27 will be UniMas. They are swapping in a couple other markets.

I fail to understand any of this....unless there's yet another shoe left to drop.

My guess is, as they have different coverage areas, they may want to switch them, with respect to the networks, particularly when they move to wherever, after the repackaging.
But, yes, at this point it just seems asinine!

If I'm not mistaken....haven't both WUNI and WUTF applied to move to the Needhan / Newton transmitting sites post-repack?

I'm going to assume that coverage will be fairly similar for both stations post-repack....which still leaves me confused.

WUNI, the station currently broadcasting on real ch. 27 has a somewhat better signal in the city of Boston, compared to WUTF now on ch. 29, which has their antenna considerably further west. It would have been simpler and easier on the viewers to just swap networks.
